Giant cruise companies are constantly growing and expanding their operations building new cruise ships, thus more and more employees are needed for various positions - receptionists, hairdressers, croupiers, cleaners, animators, nurses, cabin stewards, bartenders, cooks, photographers, waiters, electricians, engineers, carpenters, shop attendants and many other. Cruise companies employ international crewmembers from more than 72 countries, so different nationalities work and live together sharing common interests and often becoming friends. AHOY, DEAR CANDIDATES! Virgin Voyages provides just great work conditions: Work on board brand new company vessels Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, Resilient Lady (ship #4 will happen later on!) Be a part of special Virgin Voyage’s lifestyle and philosophy and grow together Contract length - 4-6 months for most positions, for entry positions - 7 months Free food, accommodation, coffee + soft drinks and also wifi (though limited speed) for crew The employer is going to provide or reimburse expenses for the following: * STCW certification * Joining tickets * Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME) * Necessary Visas * Joining expenses, such as transfers, hotel accommodations, subsistence The Gig: The Tailor is responsible for all tailoring repairs required onboard including but not limited to Uniforms, Sailors garments, curtains, linen and other fabric requiring repair. Responsibilities: Responsible for maintenance and tailoring repairs of Uniforms for all Crew onboard. Responsible for tailoring repairs and alternations upon Sailors requests of garments. Repairs any torn or damaged linen for the Housekeeping department. Monitors supplies and orders when necessary threads, needles, buttons etc. Carries out maintenance and repair of soft furnishings, curtains and drapes. Informs Executive Housekeeper of any problems regarding uniforms, linen or other fabric equipment and keeps informed of any shortages or major damages. Assists Linen keeper during busy periods as required. Ensures workshop is kept clean and tidy at all times. Partake in inspections, trainings and meetings as required by Head of Department. Ensures that the set standards are kept and staff members work according to their respective job descriptions. Super Powers Required: Preferred fashion/clothes design education Mandatory experience on board (can be in another department) Experience as a tailor needed min 2 years Passionate about people and able to handle guest complaints with a smile! All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position.
