VXLAN Project Engineer

Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

Opticore IT are currently searching for a VXLAN Project Engineer who is operating at a CCIE level to come and join the team on an initial 6 month basis (inside IR 35) with scope to extend. This requires 3 days per week on site in Central London.

This opportunity will have you working for a quantitative research fund in their high performing data centres to build and increase capacity for increased workloads. You'll support this growth with strong VXLAN/EVPN design and deployment skills and experience.

What you'll be doing:

Design

• Following the existing engineering standards, produce low-level designs for VXLAN/ EVPN spine-leaf fabrics, including underlay routing, overlay segmentation, multi-tenancy and border/service leaf placement

Build and implementation

• Build and configure fabrics using Arista EOS platforms and client’s proprietary orchestration and management platforms

• Configure underlay (OSPF/IS-IS/eBGP), overlay (MP-BGP EVPN), anycast gateways etc.

• Note, hardware rack, stack and cabling will be implemented by other teams

Project delivery and stakeholders

• Act as technical lead on assigned projects, reporting progress, risks and issues to the project manager.

• Engage with client stakeholders, vendors and third-party suppliers; present designs at design authority or CAB.

• Produce as-built documentation and run knowledge transfer and handover to operations/support teams.

What you'll bring:

• VXLAN / EVPN (Arista preferred, but any vendor)

• Data centre spine & leaf design

• Data centre spine & leaf deployment

• Client and stakeholder engagement

• CCIE or very strong CCNP-level (or equivalent experience)
