The opportunity

As the Wajarri Pathways Facilitator, you will play a meaningful role in supporting Wajarri People's aspirations by helping create pathways to employment, training, business development and long-term economic opportunities. Working closely with Wajarri Yamaji Aboriginal Corporation (WYAC), Wajarri businesses, community members, industry partners and government stakeholders, you will help deliver commitments that create positive and lasting outcomes for Wajarri People.

Your high-level duties will include:

  • Build strong partnerships with Wajarri, WYAC, project partners and key stakeholders to cultivate and advance employment, training and business opportunities.
  • Identify and facilitate career pathways, cadetships, apprenticeships, traineeships and development opportunities for Wajarri and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Ensure CSIRO meets ILUA and Project Agreement obligations by translating commitments into practical plans and initiatives.
  • Maintain and promote industry, procurement and contracting opportunities for Wajarri businesses through stakeholder engagement and opportunity registers.
  • Support enterprise development, including in relation to government contracting opportunities by guiding interested Wajarri stakeholders on Commonwealth procurement processes..
  • Coordinate ILUA-related activities across the Observatory, ensuring alignment with contractual, cultural and organisational requirements.
  • Manage sensitive, cultural and commercial information with integrity while upholding CSIRO values, safety standards and cultural protocols.

Role particulars

Location and office arrangements:

  • Perth/Boorloo (Kensington), Whadjuk Noongar Boodja and/or Geraldton/Jambinu, Western Australia.
  • Hybrid working available; Flexible work options available.

Salary: AU$100,103 ‐ AU113,251 pa (pro‐rata for part-time) plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure & work schedule:

  • Specified term of 3 years
  • Full‐time / Part‐time (no less than 30hr/week)
  • Options for part-time, job-share arrangements will be considered, and flexible work arrangements can be discussed based on the needs of the role and individual circumstances.

As the successful candidate, you will bring:

Essential criteria

  • High level cultural capability, moulded by Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing, and developed from lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Strong Indigenous community connection and credibility along with cultural authority as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, and/or equivalent experience in areas such as consulting, law, policy and complex stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated track record of genuine consideration of Traditional Owners and Custodians as part of a project process and demonstrated experience engaging, interacting, and co-operatively working with Traditional Owners and RNTBCs.
  • A proven ability to establish and maintain co-operative relationships in a complex, multifaceted environment, anticipating potential issues and leading delivery of effective resolutions to complex problems through collaboration and organisational alignment.
  • Sound judgement, a proven ability to maintain confidentiality, and a demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to changing circumstances, with the capacity for self-motivation and self-management.
  • An ability to travel to remote locations within Western Australia on a regular basis.
  • Possession of a Western Australian Class ‘C’ driver’s licence (or equivalent).
  • This role has child safety obligations. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to obtain or provide evidence that they hold a working with children check prior to confirmation of appointment.
