Job Description
Join our Providence team and help deliver impactful water and environmental infrastructure projects that improve communities and protect critical resources. In this role, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of engineering studies, planning efforts, and design projects that address some of today's most important water challenges. Your work may support drinking water treatment facilities, water reuse and resource recovery systems, water distribution networks, stormwater management programs, and wastewater collection infrastructure, including pipelines and pump stations.
Working alongside experienced engineers, scientists, and technical specialists, you'll be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team solving complex engineering challenges. This position offers the opportunity to expand your technical expertise, take on increasing responsibility, and make a meaningful impact on projects that enhance environmental stewardship and community well-being.
What You Will Do
- Conduct site visits, field reviews, and planning studies to evaluate client challenges and support the development of future project designs.
- Perform water quality and hydraulic analyses and modeling to inform infrastructure planning and design decisions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for recommended infrastructure solutions.
- Support construction administration activities, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to contractor requests for information (RFIs).
- Meet with clients to discuss existing systems, future needs, and potential project opportunities.
- Partner with business development and sales teams to support proposal development and responses to requests for proposal (RFPs).
- Attend conferences, symposia, and industry events to increase visibility of the firm’s capabilities and contribute to professional growth.
- Prepare and submit technical papers, design documentation, and presentations for publication in industry journals and forums.
- Engage in active mentoring relationships with senior staff to support professional development.
- Provide mentorship and technical support to junior team members, helping develop future talent within the discipline and firm.
- As appropriate, coordinate and oversee work performed by other engineering disciplines in support of project delivery.
Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with Computer‑Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) tools, including 3D and 4D design applications and workflows.
- Strong command of engineering design principles, with the ability to apply them effectively to complex infrastructure projects.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, for analysis, documentation, and reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to project teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).
- 5 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
