Full-Time | Remote | Contingent Upon Contract Award
Position Summary
Aptive Resources is seeking a Web Developer – Application Support & Systems Testing to support VHA ORD's HSR and CIDER programs.
This position will support the development, maintenance, integration, testing, and production sustainment of web-based applications connected to HSR's Microsoft SQL Server environment. The developer will work closely with the Data Modeler and other Web Developer to implement enhancements, validate application changes, resolve production issues, and maintain reliable access to HSR applications and information.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain web-based applications supporting HSR and ORD.
- Integrate applications with Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Write and maintain clean, testable application code.
- Develop and modify SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, and performance-oriented application testing as appropriate.
- Test application enhancements and fixes before implementation to validate accuracy and proper performance.
- Reproduce, diagnose, document, and resolve application defects.
- Debug web, database, and application integration issues.
- Coordinate deployment and implementation of new and updated applications.
- Monitor and respond to reported problems, alerts, and production issues.
- Troubleshoot issues caused by changes within the broader IT environment.
- Work with users and team members to identify improvements to application navigation, operation, and user experience.
- Maintain technical documentation covering application functionality, changes, testing, and issue resolution.
- Communicate technical problems and solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support quick-turn requests, ad hoc projects, and emerging HSR/ORD requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4–5 years of SQL database administration and programming experience.
- Experience developing and maintaining database-driven web applications.
- Experience with SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Demonstrated application testing and debugging experience.
- Experience troubleshooting production applications.
- Knowledge of web application security concepts, including cross-site scripting prevention and remediation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
- ColdFusion/CFML application development experience.
- JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, XML, SQL, and AJAX.
- ColdFusion Server administration.
- Experience with SQL Server-backed web applications.
- Experience with structured software/system testing and defect resolution.
- Experience supporting legacy applications while implementing incremental enhancements.
- VA/VHA, federal health, healthcare research, or other federal IT experience.
