  • Coordinate implementation and release of new and updated web applications.
  • Troubleshoot problems resulting from changes to the VA IT environment.
  • Identify and recommend enhancements that improve navigation, usability, and application operation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Data Modeler, other developers, VA technical personnel, and HSR/ORD stakeholders.
  • Respond promptly to production issues, alerts, and quick-turn technical requests.
  • Develop and maintain application and technical documentation.
  • Explain technical issues and recommended solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support ad hoc projects and special technical requirements as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of SQL database administration and programming experience.
  • Demonstrated web application development and maintenance experience.

  • Experience developing SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Experience testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and maintaining production applications.
  • Understanding of secure web-development practices, including cross-site scripting prevention and remediation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical personnel.

Strongly Preferred

  • Hands-on development experience with ColdFusion/CFML.
  • JavaScript.
  • HTML5.
  • CSS.
  • XML.
  • SQL.
  • AJAX.
  • ColdFusion Server administration.
  • Dreamweaver or another integrated development environment (IDE).
  • PL/SQL/SQL Server experience, including queries and stored procedures.
  • Previous VA/VHA or federal healthcare application-support experience.
