This role offers meaningful exposure to mortgage markets while contributing directly to desk performance and decision-making.
THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
The Whole Loan Conduit Trader Senior Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
- Support Single-Family Whole Loan Conduit trading by managing mortgage pipeline exposure from lender loan commitments through hedging, pooling, and execution. Monitor a continuously evolving pipeline, analyze risk and market conditions, support hedge and pooling decisions, and provide timely analytics and execution support to traders.
- Build and maintain relationships with financial dealers and market participants to source pricing and market color on mortgage-backed securities (MBS).
- Monitor market conditions and trading activity, identifying trends and supporting strategy execution.
- Utilize internal valuation, risk, and market data tools to track activity and support analysis.
- Perform core trade operations, including trade entry, validation, confirmation, and maintenance of accurate desk records.
- Investigate and resolve trade discrepancies in partnership with traders and internal stakeholders.
- Support pool creation and downstream execution by preparing and submitting pools to ensure timely and accurate settlement.
- Provide flexible support across the broader mortgage trading platform while developing deeper expertise in pipeline, pooling, and desk workflows.
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Minimum Required Experience:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in trading, capital markets, mortgage finance, financial markets, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline preferred.
Desired Experiences:
- Experience supporting mortgage capital markets, including mortgage pipeline management, hedging, MBS trading, pricing, pooling, or related risk management activities; direct pipeline and hedging experience strongly preferred.
- Understanding of mortgage loan commitments and the associated market and interest-rate risk, including how pipeline activity translates into hedging and MBS execution.
- Experience working in a trading desk or other fast-paced, market-driven environment, with the ability to respond to changing positions, market conditions, and time-sensitive requests.
- Experience producing timely reporting and ad hoc analysis, including aggregating large datasets and translating information into actionable insights for traders or other decision-makers.
- Strong Excel skills, including experience working with large datasets, building repeatable reports, and using advanced formulas; VBA experience preferred.
- Exposure to analytical or development tools such as VBA, SQL, Python, or similar, with an emphasis on practical business application.
- Knowledge of agency MBS, mortgage pooling, trade execution, and settlement processes preferred.
- Strong analytical judgment, intellectual curiosity, and interest in developing deeper expertise in mortgage markets, pipeline risk, and trading strategies.
- High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and demonstrated ability to perform reliably in a fast-paced, deadline-driven market environment.
