Prepare inheritance tax forms and calculations in conjunction with supervising lawyers and external advisers.
Correspond with executors, beneficiaries, financial institutions, government bodies, and other third parties throughout the administration process.
Draft deeds of variation, trust documents, and other ancillary estate documents as required.
Assist with matters involving intestacy, contentious elements, or disputes between beneficiaries, escalating where appropriate.
Maintain accurate matter records, file notes, and deadlines across a busy caseload.
Conduct legal research and remain current on developments in wills, succession, probate, and inheritance tax law.
Where applicable, advise on matters within the UK legal and regulatory framework.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Law and appropriate legal qualifications; UK legal qualifications or admission are highly desirable.
Relevant legal experience in wills, probate, and estate administration, with the ability to manage matters from instruction to completion.
Sound technical knowledge of will drafting, intestacy rules, and the probate application process.
Working knowledge of inheritance tax and its application in estate planning and administration is preferred.
Experience preparing estate accounts and handling the practical steps of estate administration.
Experience with lasting powers of attorney and trusts is advantageous.
UK legal experience is strongly preferred, particularly experience acting for clients in England and Wales.
Excellent drafting skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deal sensitively and professionally with clients and families.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with legal case management software is advantageous.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
Ability to independently manage matters and competing priorities in a remote working environment.
