Core Responsibilities:
- Tests and evaluates vendor hardware for engineering certification through Device Council, including laptops, desktops, monitors, docks and peripherals. Builds test plans from standard evaluation checklists, benchmarks performance, validates BIOS, firmware, driver and accessory compatibility, and makes documented pass/fail recommendations on 45-day and 60-day certification tracks. Works on-site in the hardware lab whenever hands-on testing needs to be completed, and on a hybrid schedule otherwise.
- Develops hardware test standards and recommends vendor selections and new technologies. Partners with support, Mac engineering, executive support, trading floor and contact center teams to test devices against their business needs, and works with vendors such as HP, Dell, Lenovo, Kensington and EPOS on pilots, firmware, roadmap briefings and pricing inputs.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves hardware, firmware and driver issues at the engineering level with Windows Engineering and Operations teams. Uses Splunk and SysTrack to identify user experience issues and usage patterns, and Microsoft Graph queries against Intune data to find hardware issues proactively. Recommends fixes, then plans, tests and deploys them across the enterprise.
- Owns Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome on Windows. Tests and validates each major release, manages update channels and cadence, and builds and maintains browser configuration and ADMX-backed policy in Microsoft Intune. Partners with Cyber Security on browser security baselines, extension governance and browser incidents, and resolves browser support requests.
- Packages, tests and deploys BIOS, firmware and driver updates in waves across 30,000 Windows devices, and works with the OS deployment team so newly certified models have the drivers they need.
- Validates Windows 11 feature updates on certified hardware.
- Submits ServiceNow change requests, validates results, provides follow-up production support and communicates changes to crew.
- Writes and maintains test plans, test results and documentation that other engineers can follow and repeat, and co-authors crew quick-start guides with support teams before certification. Shares knowledge with newer engineers on testing processes and releases.
- Administers evaluation hardware: receives, tracks, ships, wipes and redeploys evaluation units across sites, and keeps the test hardware tracker current. Delivers work in sprints using Jira and Confluence.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years related work experience.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Hands-on experience testing and evaluating enterprise hardware, including benchmarking, managing BIOS, firmware and drivers with vendor tools (for example, HP Image Assistant), and troubleshooting docks, monitors and peripherals.
- Windows 10/11 endpoint engineering experience with Microsoft Intune and Configuration Manager, including packaging, collections, configuration profiles and ADMX-backed policy.
- Experience managing Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome in the enterprise, including release channels, policy and extensions.
- Experience with ServiceNow change management, including wave-based rollouts, validation and user communication.
- Clear written communication: test plans, change records and documentation others can follow.
- Ability to own several workstreams at once (vendors, partner teams and in-flight evaluations) with limited direction, and to raise risks early.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MacOS management exposure
- PowerShell scripting for automation and validation
- Endpoint analytics: Splunk, SysTrack and Microsoft Graph queries for Intune device data
- Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
- Jira and Confluence
- Headset and peripheral certification for unified communications (Microsoft Teams, Genesys)
- Vendor management: pilots, escalations and roadmap briefings
