WHO WE SERVE As a Language Coach, your role is crucial in helping our learners achieve their language learning goals and connect with their cultural heritage. They tend to be: Spouses of Nigerians living overseas. Children/Descendants of Nigerians living overseas. The African Diaspora reconnecting with their roots. B. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Lesson Planning: Create personalized lesson plans and materials that cater to the specific needs and goals of individual learners. Conducting Language Coaching: Deliver engaging and effective coaching sessions in your language, both in small group and private settings. Educative Content Creation: Collaborate with community and media team members to create content that educates our learners within the community and on social media. Motivating and Supporting Learners: Provide encouragement, guidance, and constructive feedback to motivate learners and help them overcome challenges, during and after lesson sessions. Building a Learning Community: Foster a supportive online learning community where learners can interact, practice, and share experiences beyond the coaching sessions. Tech-Ready: Ensure you have a laptop, clear camera, stable internet connection, and reliable devices for virtual coaching sessions held on video-conferencing platforms like Zoom. Requirements Key Requirements - Teaching requirements: Punctuality Able to create engaging slides for lessons. Able to coordinate lessons to be engaging/interactive. A laptop (compulsory) Ring light or proper lighting in your teaching environment. A fantastic network connection. Skills: Speaking Proficiency in your language and English Successful teaching experience (formal or informal) Ability to Create a Conversational Learning Curriculum for your language. Skilled in Video Content Creation Effective & Fast Communication Skills (Especially via Email) Sufficient Understanding of Software like Google Drive, Zoom, Meets, and more. Personal Attributes: Creative Mind Passion for Teaching & Culture Understanding of Western Cultures especially American. Extroverted Personality Swift Decision Maker Time flexibility Working Conditions: We train adult learners (18 and above) and they often book lessons with Tutors at times that are most convenient for them. So we require you to be available for a minimum of 20 hours every week including Saturdays and Sundays. THIS IS FOR YOU IF: You are a fluent speaker of Yoruba, Igbo, Ibibio, or Pidgin languages. You have evening /Night-time availability on Weekdays. You have day and Night-time availability on Weekends. You are passionate about language, culture, and connecting people with their heritage. You are patient, friendly, and have excellent communication skills. You are tech-savvy and comfortable with online coaching platforms. You are adaptable and can create engaging, customized lesson plans. You believe in the power of a supportive learning community. You are excited to share not just the language but also the culture and traditions. THIS ISN’T FOR YOU IF: You are not fluent in any of the specified languages. You prefer a traditional teaching approach without embracing technology. You are not patient or supportive with learners facing challenges. You are not open to customising lessons to individual learner needs. You do not believe in the importance of building a learning community.
