The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a Signal Processing and Artificial Intelligence Engineer for the Communications Software Implementation Department within the Mission Payloads Division ( MPD ). At the Mission Payloads Division (MPD), we are pioneers in remote sensing systems that guide our country’s space enterprise. The Communication Software Implementation Department (CSID) develops novel algorithms and prototypes using software defined radios to enable the space enterprise. We are subject matter experts who provide technical advice to our customers on satellite communication systems and use state-of-the-art algorithms to build our customers future capabilities. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA. What You’ll Be Doing Mix of engineering projects related to signal processing, digital communications, and/or machine learning. Participates with an interdisciplinary team in ongoing research or technical programs with academic collaboration partners. Applies standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks. Document work products in briefings and/or technical reports to customers and colleagues Opportunities to propose and carry out internal R&D projects, engage in field work, and publish in conferences and journals Training and mentorship will be provided. What Corporate Skills You’ll Bring Strong written and oral communication skills Must work well in a team environment Possess organizational, time management and project management skills Demonstrate flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational need Interpersonal skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizations What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university program in Electrical Engineering , Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related technical discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months) 0-1 year of industry work experience Relevant academic or prior internship work experience Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) Strong coding skills in Python or C++ Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket) and Linux environments Minimum 3.0 GPA This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. Transcripts Required How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: Master's or PhD degree from an accredited college/university program in Electrical Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related technical discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months) GPA 3.5 or higher Active security clearance Experience with Software Defined Radios and/or GNURadio Experience with designing and training machine learning models applied to signal processing and/or communications applications We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
