Hematologist-Oncologist or Medical Oncologist (MD/DO)
Sky Lakes Cancer Treatment Center | Klamath Falls, Oregon
$675,000 Total Opportunity | Up to $100K Sign-On | 4-Day Clinical Week | Regional Practice Autonomy
If you entered oncology to treat patients rather than feed a corporate referral pipeline, your next chapter is here. Sky Lakes Medical Center is seeking a full-time, Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Medical Oncologist or Hematologist-Oncologist to step into an autonomous, regional hub practice.
Whether you are an established oncologist seeking true clinical control over your practice or an upcoming fellow eager to learn from a seasoned multidisciplinary team, this position gives you the freedom to build meaningful oncology care without corporate interference. We serve as the sole specialized oncology lifeline across Southern Oregon and Northern California, and we are actively expanding regional partnerships to broaden clinical reach and access.
The Opportunity: Autonomy, Modern Tech & Balanced Pacing
-
Total Clinical Autonomy: Take the lead on your clinical workflows, patient schedules, and treatment strategies. Senior leadership is accessible, flat, and supportive of your voice in department growth and strategic partnerships.
-
Sustainable "4+1" Schedule: 4 clinical days and 1 dedicated administrative day (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; no clinic weekends or holidays). Charting, lab reviews, and coordination stay contained during work hours.
-
Manageable, Relationship-Driven Volume: Focus on patient care with an average of 12–15 patients per day. Generous visit lengths: 60 minutes for new consults and 30 minutes for follow-ups.
-
Balanced Clinical Mix: Practice mix averages ~80% oncology and 20% hematology. Bone marrow biopsies are entirely optional and can also be handled by our hospital Interventional Radiology team.
-
Robust Interdisciplinary Support:
-
12-chair modern infusion suite supported by 5 Chemo-certified RNs, 2 dedicated oncology pharmacists, and 1.5 pharmacy techs.
-
2 permanent Oncology Nurse Practitioners, full-time Radiation Oncologist, dedicated PA, 6 oncology navigators, clinical manager, social worker, and cancer registrar.
-
Comprehensive navigation and supportive programs, including nutrition classes, patient support groups, and free wigs/prosthetic fittings via the Sky Lakes Foundation.
-
-
Outpatient Focus with Low-Stress Call: Inpatient care is managed 100% by the on-site Hospitalist service. Specialty physicians designate their 8 telephone-only call days per month (including 1 weekend). After-hours calls are pre-screened 24/7/365 by an external RN triage service (Conduit Health Partners), resulting in low physician involvement averaging ~6 direct calls per month (primarily direct ER/hospitalist consults).
-
On-Site Diagnostics & Subspecialty Network: On-site phlebotomy with same-day lab couriering, IR, MRI, CT, and a permanently parked PET/CT unit performing PSMA scans. Monthly multidisciplinary tumor boards with local specialists (Cardiology, ENT, Pathology, Pulmonary, Surgery, and Urology), supplemented by growing tertiary partnerships.
