Job Description This position is being recruited for through a secondary applicant tracking system. To be considered for the role, please apply at the following link: Position Details - Academic Personnel & Faculty The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time breast health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position to provide patient care at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center (FHCC) Campus. Successful candidates will be expected to support the department's commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. This position provides a faculty appointment at the rank of Teaching Associate in the Department of Surgery with an anticipated start date in Winter 2027. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position will be: $10,834 - $15,391 per month commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Relocation assistance may be available for out-of-state candidates. The FHCC Breast Health Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a member of the Breast Health Surgery multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, fellows, and RNs providing medical/surgical management. This individual will be fully deployed at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center (FHCC), where they will be expected to work four clinic days per week with one administrative day per week. They will independently evaluate new breast complaints, manages high-risk surveillance patients as well as pre- and post-operative patients at FHCC. The APP assesses and manages the pre- and post-operative phases of treatment, performs in-office procedures (such as needle aspiration, skin biopsies, steroid injections, and small incision/drainage procedures), monitors for cancer progression or recurrence, and consults with surgeons and peer APP colleagues as needed. They work collaboratively with the treatment team to coordinate care of their patients. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician. Other responsibilities include the following: Collaborates and consults with multiple surgery attending physicians & other disciplines/services to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care. Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Evaluates and manages patients in their pre- and post-operative stages as well as conducts long-term surveillance Performs procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice Provides patient, caregiver, and peer education Communicates effectively with inpatient and outpatient teams Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. Qualifications Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications: Current and valid WA State Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C. Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant Program. Nationally certified ARNP/PA and eligible for DEA. Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment Effective interpersonal and leadership skills Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills Prior surgical clinic or OR experience desired; extremely motivated new graduates with relevant surgical training backgrounds may be considered for hire with an extended onboarding period Application Instructions Applications will only be accepted via Interfolio .
