Job Summary

Overall Purpose:

The Analyst will be mainly responsible to assist the team Lead in formulating the Bank’s Investment and Funding Strategy. The job holder will also be responsible for the credit assessment and analysis of the Bank’s overall liquidity, foreign exchange and interest rate position while providing support to the team on balance sheet asset and liability management.

Key Responsibilities

The job holder will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Asset and Liability Management team in the compilation and delivery of the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) report, by collecting data and metrics from different departments and sources and preparing reports and recommendations that effectively communicate trends and relevant information for strategic business decisions that are presented to ALCO on a monthly basis.
  • Preparing credit analyses for new investment opportunities to be held in the Bank’s investment portfolio.
  • Carrying out periodic credit assessments on financial and corporate investment exposures held in the proprietary portfolio to generate an internal credit rating for capital allocation and solvency obligations.
  • Providing insight and recommendations in relation to the Treasury Management Policy and Guidelines, but also in reviewing other policies affecting the Treasury function for example Collateral Management Policy, Interest Rate Risk Policy, Liquidity and Funding Policy, Contingency Funding and Recovery Plan.
  • Carrying out periodic analyses of the Bank’s credit, liquidity, foreign exchange and interest rate position.
  • Supporting the team in the development, enhancement and maintenance of the Bank’s Interest Rate Risk model, data and system.
  • Conducting analytical analyses of performance of Treasury assets under management. These analyses serve as a basis of Treasury’s responsibility to advise and recommend the Bank’s ALCO.The analyses include:
    • Trends in customer deposits and development in market share, average cost and maturity;
    • Financial statement analysis to make better economic decisions to earn income in the future;
    • Appraisal of liquidity position in terms of quality of securities held and eligibility for repo operations including ECB and balance sheet developments;
    • Changes in the overall risk-weight of assets under management and projections of capital allocation.

    • Ability to perform in line with business needs and handle a number of tasks concurrently
  • Keeping abreast with market and regulatory developments and assessing the possible impact on the Bank’s investment and funding strategy.
  • Collecting information and updating senior management with market developments.
  • Assisting the Asset & Liability Management team in the implementation of specific projects which are undertaken from time to time by the Bank, including those that emanate from new regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting in handling department related 3rd party invoice payments and keep up the maintenance of invoicing and related agreements records.

In addition to the specific functions, management may assign more duties as required for the job from time to time.

Required Criteria

Previous proven work experience of three (3) years in a financial, investment environment and/or related area, AND an MQF Level 5 Award in Mathematics, Finance, Data Science, or a related field.

OR

Previous proven work experience of four (4) years in a financial, investment environment and/or related area.

OR

Previous proven work experience of one (1) year in a financial, investment environment and/or related area, AND an MQF level 6 Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Data Science, or a related field.

Desirable Criteria

Previous proven work experience with direct exposure to coding and/ or Power BI.

Applicants are required to satisfy the Bank’s minimum eligibility criteria of four (4) O’Levels at Grade 5/C or higher, including English Language, in addition to any role‑specific requirements outlined above. This requirement shall not apply where applicants are already in possession of an MQF Level 6 Degree or higher.
