At our Berlin site, more than 1,800 employees develop and manufacture key components for ASML lithography systems.

During the Fine Optics Apprenticeship, you can expect an exciting combination of theory and practice. In our in-house training workshop, you will work with modern equipment and manufacturing processes that are in demand worldwide. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will receive individual support and be well prepared for the start of your career in a future-oriented industry.

Role and responsibilities

As a fine optics apprentice, you will:

manufacture optical components from raw materials to finished high-tech products.
learn how to manually process glass and ceramics before using modern precision machinery.
grind, polish, measure, and inspect optical components according to technical specifications.
combine manual craftsmanship with modern manufacturing technologies.
use and maintain tools, measuring equipment, and machinery safely.
gain practical experience in different manufacturing areas, including cleanrooms.
complete practical training in our in-house training workshop and apply your theoretical knowledge in a manufacturing environment.

Education and experience

Secondary school certificate, university of applied sciences entrance qualification, or general university entrance qualification
Interest in mathematics, physics, natural sciences, or engineering
Interest in working with computers and high-tech equipment
Interest in learning both manual and machine-based precision manufacturing processes
Professional proficiency in German, both spoken and written

Skills

Working in precision manufacturing requires concentration, care, and a strong awareness of quality. To succeed in this apprenticeship, the following skills are important:

Patience and perseverance when working on demanding precision tasks
Steady hands and excellent manual dexterity
Curiosity, willingness to learn, and reliability
Enjoyment of teamwork and open communication
Flexibility and openness to different assignments and early working hours

Deine Aufgaben

Als Auszubildende:r in der Feinoptik wirst du:

optische Bauteile vom Rohmaterial bis zum fertigen High-Tech-Produkt herstellen.
lernen, Glas und Keramik zunächst von Hand und später mit modernen Präzisionsmaschinen zu bearbeiten.
optische Bauteile nach technischen Vorgaben schleifen, polieren, vermessen und kontrollieren.
handwerkliches Geschick mit modernen Fertigungstechnologien verbinden.
Werkzeuge, Messgeräte und Maschinen sicher nutzen und pflegen.
praktische Erfahrungen in verschiedenen Fertigungsbereichen und Reinräumen sammeln.
in unserer eigenen Ausbildungswerkstatt arbeiten und dein theoretisches Wissen in einem Fertigungsumfeld anwenden.

Deine Qualifikation

Mittlerer Schulabschluss, Fachhochschulreife oder allgemeine Hochschulreife
Interesse an Mathematik, Physik, Naturwissenschaften oder Technik
Interesse am Umgang mit Computern und High-Tech-Anlagen
Interesse daran, sowohl manuelle als auch maschinelle Verfahren der Präzisionsfertigung zu erlernen
Verhandlungssichere Deutschkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift

Deine Kompetenzen

Die Arbeit in der Feinoptik erfordert Konzentration, Sorgfalt und ein ausgeprägtes Qualitätsbewusstsein. Für eine erfolgreiche Ausbildung sind folgende Kompetenzen wichtig:

Geduld und Ausdauer bei anspruchsvollen Präzisionsaufgaben
Eine ruhige Hand und gutes Fingerspitzengefühl
Neugier, Lernbereitschaft und Zuverlässigkeit
