The Chief Technology Office is looking for an Architecture & SDLC Metrics Reporting Engineer based out of Milton Keynes.

The Architecture & SDLC Metrics Reporting Engineer will play a key role in this by supporting in the definition of strategic reporting for architecture governance adherence, developer performance, and SDLC compliance across our UK Technology organisation.
This role will help ensure that our system development lifecycle controls, design standards, and delivery practices are measurable, transparent, and continuously improved — supporting decision-making for CTO leadership.
We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting controls definition and design, and maintaining automated dashboards that track adherence to Santander’s Architecture Governance Framework,
- Developing, maintaining and supporting the applications and workflows that support our SDLC controls and processes,
- Lead the Development for the existing “SDLC Compliance Platform” and timing to develop it’s capabilities, improve its usability and respond to both business and technology requirements.
- Manage requirements from user stories through to software change implementation.
- Driving increased adoption of automated controls and processes through the development and integration of new API interfaces and supporting upstream application owners with integrating into them.
- Enabling end to end visibility of the status of Santander’s application health through the design and delivery of auditable metrics to demonstrate adherence to policy standards.
- Developing dashboards and portals that measure SDLC governance metrics, aligned to Santander’s Software Development Lifecycle Policy.
- Designing the integration and model data from multiple Santander systems — including, Jira, ServiceNow, GitHub, and architecture repositories (Abacus, AGT, SDLC Compliance Portal, CMDB, etc.) — to create a consolidated view of technology delivery performance and risks.
- Working with Enterprise Architects, Engineering Leads, and Governance Managers to define KPIs, thresholds, and scoring logic that reflect compliance with internal standards and regulatory expectations. Ensuring automated metrics and dashboards comply with data quality, security, and governance controls in line with Santander’s Data Management Policy.
- Developing data models, API interfaces, data transformation jobs and reconciliation processes to ensure the full scope of upstream data has been correctly collected, managed and assessed.
- Oversee and manage technical deployments, software changes, dashboard releases / promotion and access management, within CTO’s reporting suites and applications. Maintaining inventories on data sources, metric definitions, and transformation logic in alignment with Santander’s Data Lineage and Metadata Standards.

Professional Experience
- A working knowledge and understanding of GenAI tools (Devin, & Atlassian AI toolset) (Required)
- Proven experience as a full-stack software engineer working with:
- Front End: Angular
- API Layer: IBM V10 REST APIs
- Backend: Java (Spring Boot)
- Data: Oracle SQL 19c
- Hosting: RedHat OpenShift, GitHub and GitHub Actions (Required)
- Experience designing RESTful API interfaces to support both user and system interactions. (Required)
- Working knowledge of ETL and data integration — connecting to structured and unstructured sources via SQL, APIs, or batch transfers. (Required)
- Familiarity with building data ETL processes within Java. (Required)
- Working knowledge of designing integration of data from SDLC and DevOps tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow) to monitor delivery governance. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of Python for advanced analytics, data enrichment, or anomaly detection. (Preferred)
- Understanding of Santander’s data security, privacy, and governance controls, with the ability to ensure compliance in BI solutions. (Preferred)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). (Required)
- Knowledge of financial services regulation and governance practices. (Preferred)
Hard Skills
- Experience with Santander’s Data Platform, Data Lake, and/or Power Platform ecosystem. (Required)
- Familiarity with internal Santander architecture principles and patterns. (Preferred)
- Exposure to Agile delivery models, particularly within highly regulated financial environments. (Preferred)
Soft Skills
- Ability to translate complex governance data into actionable insights through clear, well-structured visualizations. (Required)
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience working across architecture, engineering, risk, and compliance functions. (Preferred)
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and presentation standards suitable for audit and regulatory reviews. (Required)

Salary Range:
£61,600.00 - £92,400.00 per annum (depending on experience)
This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
