If you are an asset information or data specialist who enjoys applying disciplined standards, improving enterprise systems and working with stakeholders to resolve complex information issues, this could be the opportunity for you!

About the Role

We’re looking for an Asset Information Specialist (Network) to strengthen the quality, governance and use of network asset and work order information.

This specialist role owns key asset information and master data governance activities within its scope, including data standards, structures, controls, system configuration, change governance and Compatible Unit Estimation data.

You’ll work across the business to ensure network asset and work order information is accurate, complete, consistent and accessible. You’ll apply governance and validation controls, identify and resolve data quality issues, and provide trusted information that supports lifecycle, risk, investment, planning, delivery and reporting decisions.

Reporting to the Head of Network Delivery Performance, you’ll work across Network, Asset Management, Works Delivery and Technology to:

· Own and maintain the integrity, quality and lifecycle management of network asset information and master data within the role’s scope.

· Establish and apply asset data standards, definitions, structures, validation controls and governance practices across the network.

· Govern changes to asset data, structures, data models and system configuration through defined change control processes, including Technical Management of Change.

· Act as a gatekeeper for deviations from approved data standards and structures, escalating material risks or unclear alignment where required.

· Monitor and improve work order information quality through clear standards, validation, reporting, trend analysis and targeted remediation of recurring issues.

· Identify root causes of asset and work order data issues and collaborate with process owners, Works Delivery, Asset Management and Technology to implement practical, sustainable solutions.

· Maintain and govern asset information systems, data models and Compatible Unit Estimation structures, standards and data.

· Support WEL’s Asset Management Policy, Strategic Asset Management Plan, assurance practices and ongoing ISO 55001 certification.

About You

You’ll bring credible experience in asset information, data management or data governance within a complex operational or asset-intensive environment. You’ll be comfortable working with detailed asset and work order information, applying standards and controls in enterprise systems, and collaborating across functions to improve data ownership and discipline.

You’re rigorous, collaborative and confident exercising sound judgement. You can interpret complex information, identify trends, gaps and risks, and build trusted relationships while maintaining clear governance expectations.

You’ll also bring personal ownership to the role. You’re self-driven, comfortable working across team boundaries and willing to follow improvements through to a practical outcome.

· Experience in asset information, data management or data governance roles within complex operational or asset-intensive environments.

· Experience managing and improving data quality in enterprise asset management, maintenance management or equivalent systems.

· Strong capability in applying data standards, governance practices, validation controls and change control to maintain reliable information and system configuration.

· Experience analysing asset and work order information to identify trends, defects, risks, root causes and improvement opportunities.

· The ability to work across Asset Management, Works Delivery and Technology to resolve data issues and strengthen ownership, stewardship and discipline.

· Strong accuracy, judgement and attention to detail, with the confidence to uphold standards and escalate material governance or data quality risks.

· Understanding of electrical distribution assets, asset lifecycle processes and the role of asset information in maintenance, planning, delivery and investment decisions.

· A relevant qualification in asset management, engineering, information management, data management or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.

Familiarity with SAP PM or an equivalent enterprise asset management system is expected. Experience with GIS, ISO 55000 frameworks, data quality or governance methods, utilities, regulated asset environments, system integration, or continuous improvement methodologies would be advantageous.

You don’t need to know every detail of our network on day one, but you will need the technical curiosity and asset information discipline to quickly build your understanding and provide credible ownership across network data and systems.
