As Assistant Floor Manager at Omnia, our events and conference venue, you are the main point of contact for facilities-related matters and one of the welcoming faces our guests and visitors will meet. You are visible throughout the building, always ready to help with a smile and a proactive, service-oriented attitude, making sure everyone feels welcome.
You maintain an overview of everything happening in the building and respond smoothly to the needs of our guests. Whenever necessary, you coordinate with the Floor Manager, Location Manager or Technical Building Manager. You also support Omnia’s regular service providers, including audiovisual services, catering and cleaning, working together to ensure that events and activities run efficiently and professionally.
Your Tasks And Responsibilities Include
Your team
You will be working as part of Team Omnia. The team consists of colleagues from various disciplines, including Floor Managers, reception staff, catering staff, audiovisual service providers and ceremonial officers. It is a highly committed team with a shared goal: contributing to successful events and academic ceremonies.
In your day-to-day work, you will mainly receive guidance from colleagues within Team Omnia. Your line manager is the Head of Location Facilities.

Omnia is the flagship venue of Wageningen University & Research and a place for global dialogue on agri-food topics as well as for all academic ceremonies. It is a venue where people come together for dialogue and where we welcome external guests and organisations.

Progression to scale 5 is possible and may be offered to highly experienced Facilities Assistants. For this role, an appointment of either 24–28 hours per week or 8–12 hours per week can be discussed. We initially offer a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension subject to satisfactory performance and the organisation’s financial and operational circumstances.

- keeping the building clean, tidy and presentable throughout the day, while also carrying out minor technical and maintenance tasks, such as resolving small technical issues;
- preparing meeting and event rooms in the required set-up before guests arrive;
- providing audiovisual support during events;
- taking a hands-on approach after events and making sure that everything is returned to its proper place;
- carrying out maintenance and general upkeep of outdoor areas, including the bicycle parking area, pond and surrounding grounds.

You Bring The Following Knowledge And Experience
- you have completed an MBO level 4 qualification, or equivalent, in facilities management, hospitality or a related field;
- you have at least one year of experience in a similar role;
- you have an affinity with and knowledge of audiovisual equipment;
- you have excellent spoken and written communication skills in Dutch and spoken English at B2 level;
- you hold a BHV (Emergency Response Officer) certificate or are willing to obtain one.
