Responsibilities

  • As a member of the accounting faculty, the Assistant or Associate Professor teaches undergraduate accounting courses, contributes to curriculum and program development, and mentors students in their academic, spiritual, and professional growth. The faculty member maintains an appropriate program of scholarly and professional development, participates actively in university and professional citizenship, and collaborates with colleagues, alumni, employers, and other partners to strengthen student learning and career preparation.
  • Teaching requirement is typically 30 semester credit hours per year over three semesters in some (but not all) of the following subject areas/courses: Financial accounting, accounting information systems, accounting analytics .
  • Scholarship: Faculty are expected to remain professionally and academically engaged through research or creative endeavors and on-going professional development.
  • Citizenship: Faculty are expected to contribute actively to the university community and their profession.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in accounting is required, PhD preferred. Foreign equivalent degree from a nationally accredited institution accepted. Specializing in areas such as: accounting information systems, financial accounting, and/or accounting analytics.
  • As an educational institution affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Church), BYU–Hawaii prefers to hire qualified members of the Church in good standing, as authorized under 41 C.F.R. § 60-1.5 (a)(6). To be eligible for employment, applicants who are members of the Church must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend and receive a clearance from the Church’s Ecclesiastical Clearance Office.

Benefits

  • Salary range: 117K to 137K, depending on credentials (highest degree earned), rank and experience.
  • Housing stipend.
  • A relocation expense package is provided.
  • Annually renewable contract eligible for Continuing Faculty Status (BYU-H equivalent of “tenure-track”).
  • Standard BYU-Hawaii benefits package for regular full-time employees.
