Responsibilities

• Teaching requirement is typically 30 semester credit hours per year over three semesters in some (but not all) of the following subject areas/courses: Introductory Biology or Chemistry, Human Anatomy or Physiology, Ecology or Marine Biology, Statistics, Cell Biology.
• Scholarship: Faculty are expected to remain professionally and academically engaged through research or creative endeavors and on-going professional development.
• Citizenship: Faculty are expected to contribute actively to the university community and their profession.

Qualifications

• A doctorate in Biology or related field is required. Foreign equivalent degree from a nationally accredited institution accepted. Specializing in areas such as: Human Anatomy or Physiology, Ecology or Marine Biology, Cell Biology, Environmental Science. ABD near completion will also be considered (must complete degree by start date).
• As an educational institution affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Church), BYU–Hawaii prefers to hire qualified members of the Church in good standing, as authorized under 41 C.F.R. § 60-1.5 (a)(6). To be eligible for employment, applicants who are members of the Church must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend and receive a clearance from the Church’s Ecclesiastical Clearance Office.

Benefits

• Salary range: 121K to 131K, depending on credentials (highest degree earned), rank and experience.
• Housing stipend.
• A relocation expense package is provided.
• Annually renewable contract eligible for Continuing Faculty Status (BYU-H equivalent of “tenure-track”).
• Standard BYU-Hawaii benefits package for regular full-time employees.
