Responsibilities
Teaching: The normal teaching load is 30 semester credit hours per year, distributed across three semesters. Teaching assignments will be based on program needs and the successful candidate’s qualifications and may include courses in the following areas:
- IT Foundations and Human-Computer Interaction: computer hardware, operating systems, technical support and troubleshooting, human-computer interaction, and the Internet of Things
- Networking and Cybersecurity: computer networking, cybersecurity fundamentals, security monitoring and incident response, and penetration testing
- Systems and Cloud Computing: Windows and Linux systems administration, virtualization, cloud infrastructure design and deployment
- Databases and Data Engineering: database systems and administration, data integration, and data pipelines
Candidates are not expected to have expertise in every area but should be prepared to teach undergraduate courses in more than one.
- Scholarship: Faculty are expected to remain professionally and academically engaged through research or creative endeavors and ongoing professional development.
- Citizenship: Faculty are expected to contribute actively to the university community and their profession.
Qualifications
- A master’s degree in information technology, or a closely related field, from an appropriately accredited institution is required, PhD preferred. Equivalent international degrees from a nationally accredited institution will be considered. Doctorate candidates near completion may be considered; degree requirements must be completed before the start date.
- Candidates should have academic preparation, professional experience, or both relevant to the teaching areas listed above and be prepared to teach undergraduate courses in more than one area of the information technology curriculum.

Benefits
- Salary range: 115K to 137K, depending on credentials (highest degree earned), rank and experience.
- Housing stipend.
- A relocation expense package is provided.
- Annually renewable contract eligible for Continuing Faculty Status (BYU-H equivalent of “tenure-track”).
