Job Summary:

Eastern Mennonite University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing. Guided by our "Sacred Covenant" model of holistic care, service, and social justice, EMU’s CCNE-accredited department offers a range of pathways, including a traditional BSN, an Accelerated Second Degree BSN, LPN-to-BSN, and online MSN, graduate certificate, and DNP options. Qualifications: PhD or DNP in Nursing or related field preferred, MSN accepted. College-level teaching and/or post-doctoral experience preferred. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of instructor. Advanced Nurse Practitioners may be considered at the rank of Assistant Professor of the Practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching load may include undergraduate courses and clinical supervision in the BSN and Accelerated Second Degree Program and graduate courses in the MSN and graduate certificate programs. Typical load is 3-4 courses per semester, potentially including some summer teaching (24SH per year). Potential courses include:
    • NURS 320 Adult Health Practicum I (BSN)
    • NURS 426 Nursing and Family in the Community (BSN)
    • NURS 516 Application of Legal and Ethical Principles in Healthcare (MSN)
  • Teaching assignment will be based on expertise of the candidate
  • Department and university service is expected in the form of advising and mentoring a diverse student body of nurses and nurse leaders in training.

Position Details: Nine-month contract. 24 semester hours per year, including some summer teaching. Salary is determined by education and experience. A track record of active, inclusive, student-centered teaching is preferred. Applicants must have a strong commitment to serving and working within a community of diverse learners. Candidates seeking appointment at the rank of Associate Professor will have their qualifications evaluated in accordance with EMU’s established promotion standards.

Appointment Date: Positions begin mid-August 2027. EMU reserves the right to fill the position at any time or keep the position open.

Requirements & Contingencies:

Appointment is contingent upon the submission of official transcripts and the successful completion of a background check following a conditional offer of employment. Salary Range: The salary range for the position is $50,000 - $72,000, per year, however, actual starting salary will commensurate with course loading, education and/or experience.
