ABOUT THE ROLES
We are seeking to appoint two Assistant Professors in the School of Psychology:
- Assistant Professor in Occupational and Organisational Psychology (1.0 FTE - 37 hrs pr week)
- Assistant Professor in Psychology (up to 0.8 FTE - 29.6 hrs per week)
Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will help the Head of School and Associate Heads of School maintain and enhance the national and international reputation of the School of Psychology and the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. You will demonstrate continued academic and/or practitioner achievement while contributing to your discipline and to the life and work of the Faculty. You will take responsibility for module and/or programme leadership, and will deliver high-quality teaching across the School's undergraduate and postgraduate portfolios.
Assistant Professor in Occupational and Organisational Psychology (1.0 FTE - 37 hrs pr week)
Do you have expertise in occupational psychology as a practitioner and/or academic? Are you looking for a role in an academic environment, teaching the next generation of occupational psychologists and conducting research or practice in the field?
You will draw on your proven track record as an occupational psychologist in a practitioner and/or academic context. You will be part of a team of psychologists and occupational and organisational psychologists who support delivery of our Occupational Psychology provision, which includes undergraduate pathway options, master's provision and a professional doctorate in occupational psychology. You will teach on topics such as contemporary issues in occupational psychology, occupational psychology theory, and elements of occupational psychology practice, and will hold module and/or programme leadership responsibilities.
We are seeking either an Academic Occupational Psychologist or a Practitioner Occupational Psychologist. We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have experience and knowledge in organisational culture, structure, design and change.
Assistant Professor in Psychology (up to 0.8 FTE - 29.6 hrs per week)
We are seeking an Assistant Professor in any area of Psychology to build and sustain a nationally and internationally recognised research and/or practice profile. You will draw on your proven track record to deliver high-quality teaching across the School's undergraduate and postgraduate portfolios and will take responsibility for module and/or programme leadership.

The School of Psychology sits within the newly named Faculty of Health and Wellbeing and plays a pivotal role in the development of Northumbria University. ABOUT YOU
To be successful in the role you will have demonstrable experience and knowledge in your specified discipline, and you must have experience in and/or a desire to help shape education within the school. A recognised teaching qualification or equivalent teaching experience (such as Fellowship of AdvanceHE) will be beneficial to your application.
Applicants for the Assistant Professor (Practice) role should hold a first degree in a relevant subject and professional qualification or substantial professional experience in the discipline. You must also be able to demonstrate contemporary expert specialist knowledge and subject expertise within the relevant discipline/practice areas ensuring that the curriculum reflects the latest developments within practice.
Experience of designing, delivering, assessing, and evaluating high-quality teaching and learning practice as well as evidence of contributions to the development of contemporary practice are essential.
