San Francisco State University, Department of Psychology offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Psychology beginning August 2027. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests include development, community, and/or families. Required qualifications: Ph.D. in Psychology or related discipline (e.g., Community Psychology, Educational Psychology, Human Development). Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment. Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students Preferred qualifications : Record of teaching contributions in research methods, scientific writing, or basic psychological processes (as a graduate student, post-doc, or faculty member). Active record of scholarship related to the Developmental Psychology program in the Department of Psychology at SF State. The Department of Psychology serves over 1,000 undergraduate and 150 graduate students. The majority of faculty within the Department of Psychology collaborate within graduate program concentrations to provide exceptional graduate training. The Department of Psychology offers the following graduate degrees: MS in Industrial Organizational Psychology MS in Psychology Concentration in Clinical Psychology Concentration in School Psychology MA in Psychological Science Concentration in Developmental Psychology Concentration in Mind, Brain, & Behavior Concentration in Social, Personality, & Affective Science Responsibilities The position requires both undergraduate and graduate teaching. Undergraduate course topics will include our core courses in development (childhood, adolescence, lifespan), community, and/or families. Graduate teaching responsibilities are assigned based upon expertise and faculty interest. A broad set of graduate course topics are available across any of our graduate programs. The position requires mentoring and advising both undergraduate and graduate students; developing an active ongoing research program in one’s area of specialty, and ongoing committee and service assignments within the Department of Psychology. Compensation: The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is: $95,000 to $97,000 annually (12 monthly payments per academic year). Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
