ABOUT THE ROLE Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will assist the Head of School to maintain, enhance and improve the School and Faculty’s national and international reputation in midwifery and healthcare. You will be responsible for contributing to an exceptional student experience through the delivery of teaching and learning, knowledge exchange, and business and enterprise engagement activity. This post is advertised across our Associate Professor , Assistant Professor and Assistant Professor (Practice) roles. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 therefore the successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. ABOUT THE TEAM The School of Healthcare and Nursing Sciences at Northumbria University is one of the UK’s largest providers of nursing and midwifery education, with an exceptional reputation for high quality education, impactful research and strong partnerships with healthcare services across the North East. ABOUT YOU Applicants for the Associate Professor role will be expected to demonstrate continuing academic attainment and achievement and provide academic leadership through contributions to their discipline and to the life and work of the Faculty. You will also need to be an NMC Registered Midwife . Applicants for the Assistant Professor (Practice) role should hold a first degree in a relevant subject and a professional qualification, notably NMC Registered Midwife, or substantial professional experience in the discipline. You must also be able to demonstrate contemporary expert specialist knowledge and subject expertise within the relevant discipline and practice areas, ensuring that the curriculum reflects the latest developments within contemporary midwifery and healthcare practice. Experience of designing, delivering, assessing and evaluating high quality teaching and learning, as well as evidence of contributions to the development of contemporary practice, are essential.
