THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE
Specialised & Project Finance (S&PF) is looking for an Associate based out of either London or Manchester.
As an Associate within S&PF, you will join a high-performing and ambitious team of professionals. You will support colleagues (Directors, Associate Directors & Senior Associates) in delivering the financial and strategic objectives of Santander UK and the wider Group. This role offers exposure to a diverse and dynamic portfolio of assets, spanning Renewable Energy, Infrastructure and Specialised Finance.
You will play a key role in maintaining and developing relationships with management teams, sponsors and key business introducers (KBI’s), helping to deepen existing partnerships whilst identifying new business opportunities. Alongside this, you will contribute to robust credit stewardship, ensuring the integrity and performance of the Bank’s balance sheet.
With the support of the Team, you will develop core capabilities in risk identification and mitigation, operating within established credit frameworks and risk appetite guidelines.
The role also provides an excellent platform for you to contribute to S&PF’s strategic initiatives.
You’ll need to display a solid ability to learn and build technical, regulatory, legal and credit / debt structuring expertise, while collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timelines.

- Assisting with financial analysis, credit risk assessment and the preparation of credit committee submissions, presentations and related materials.
- Helping to identify, assess and escalate transaction and portfolio risks, while operating within approved credit processes, appetite frameworks and wider bank controls.
- Supporting in key strategic initiatives and projects.
- Co-ordinating effectively with internal stakeholders including coverage, risk, origination and product teams, as well as external advisers and customer stakeholders where appropriate.
- Maintaining high standards of data integrity, customer confidentiality, regulatory compliance and accurate recording of origination and customer activity in key systems.
- Contributing to the team’s financial targets and OKRs, whilst maintaining discipline over credit quality.
- Supporting relationship development with existing and prospective clients, management teams and key business introducers as part of a broader deal team.
- Taking ownership of your professional development, learning technical, legal and credit structuring skills, and contributing positively to team culture and Santander behaviours.

Professional Experience:
- Relevant experience in a Corporate Banking, Corporate Finance or wider financial services environment, with exposure to lending, credit or transaction execution activity (Required)
- Experience supporting financial analysis, credit assessment, deal execution or portfolio management activity, with the ability to work accurately under time-critical deadlines (Required)
- Have a good working knowledge of nCino and be comfortable using the platform as part of the credit process (Required)
Education:
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience in finance, accounting, economics, business or a related discipline (Required)
- Accountancy qualifications or similar professional qualifications are advantageous, but not essential (Preferred)
Hard Skills:
- Good credit and financial analysis capability, including financial modelling skills or demonstrable transferable skills and the ability to develop this competency quickly (Required)
- Knowledge of corporate banking or structured finance products, credit processes and the financial services market, with excellent attention to risk and control requirements (Required)
- Stolid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn internal systems, processes and reporting requirements quickly (Required)
Soft Skills:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across deal teams and build effective internal and external stakeholder relationships (Required)
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with resilience, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment (Required)
- Proactive, accountable and eager to learn, with the confidence to seek feedback, take initiative and contribute positively to team performance and customer outcomes (Required)

Salary Range:
£45,008.00 - £67,512.00per annum (depending on experience)
This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
