Associate Veterinarian — Presque Isle, ME

We are working on behalf of an independently owned, two hospital small animal group in Northern Maine that is looking to welcome an Associate Veterinarian to its team.

This is a general practice role with built in time each day for same day urgent cases, and it would suit a confident, well rounded practitioner who enjoys variety. Because the nearest specialty and emergency hospitals are several hours away, the doctors here handle a broad and genuinely interesting caseload in house, with real clinical autonomy and the option to refer when it is the right call. The team currently includes four veterinarians with a range of strengths across ultrasound, ophthalmic surgery, orthopedics, dentistry and endoscopy, and cases are shared based on interest rather than forced into a single mold.

Support is a real priority here, with a policy of at least two technicians per doctor plus a floater, and schedules that flex to protect quality of care when staffing is tight. Full time is typically a four day week with no weekends at either location, and after hours coverage is light and pre triaged, working out to roughly one five hour on call evening every two weeks. The owners are able to be creative with compensation, relocation and student loan support, and they are open to international candidates who need visa sponsorship.

About You

• DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US
• You hold, or are eligible for, licensure in Maine
• A confident, well rounded general practitioner who enjoys a varied caseload
• Collaborative and team oriented, and comfortable in a rural setting
• Willing to take part in the light, rotated on call so the load stays fair across the team
• Surgery and dentistry skills are welcome but not required
