Backend Engineer

About the Role

Join a six-person engineering team building agentic backend infrastructure for a healthtech AI platform that automates administrative clinical workflows. Your work will directly accelerate patient access to care and power rapid customer onboarding, the company's primary growth lever, while ensuring secure and reliable processing of clinical information at scale.

What You'll Do

• Architect and deploy AI-native backend systems that process high-volume data via API.

• Shape product iterations end-to-end by integrating direct customer feedback into new features.

• Build reliable, secure agentic infrastructure capable of handling clinical information for millions of patients.

• Own critical backend infrastructure and drive its technical evolution over time.

• Scale systems and architecture to support rapid customer onboarding and company growth.

What We're Looking For

• 0 to 1 years of professional backend software development experience.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Infrastructure-as-code experience using Terraform or a similar tool.

• Understanding of prompt engineering and working with AI/LLM-based systems.

• A strong GitHub profile showing active, meaningful contributions.

• Currently employed at an established company (not self-employed or freelancing).

• Genuine interest in building impactful products in healthcare.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $120,000 to $250,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

On-site, five days per week in San Francisco, CA, United States.
