Backend Engineer

About the Role

Join a six-person engineering team building AI-native backend systems at the core of a healthtech platform that automates administrative clinical workflows for healthcare organizations. Your work will directly accelerate patient access to care and power the rapid customer onboarding that drives company growth, all while handling sensitive clinical data securely and reliably at scale.

What You'll Do

• Architect and deploy AI-native backend systems that process high-volume clinical data via API.

• Build reliable, secure agentic infrastructure capable of handling clinical information for millions of patients.

• Shape product iterations end-to-end by integrating direct customer feedback into backend development.

• Own critical backend infrastructure and drive its technical evolution over time.

• Scale systems and architecture to support rapid customer onboarding and company growth.

What We're Looking For

• 0 to 1 years of professional backend software development experience.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Infrastructure-as-code experience using Terraform or a comparable tool.

• Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts and practices.

• A strong GitHub profile with a history of active, meaningful contributions.

• Currently employed at an established company (not self-employed or between roles).

• Genuine enthusiasm for building impactful products in healthcare.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $120,000 to $250,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

On-site, five days per week in San Francisco, CA, United States.
