We’re working with an innovative, rapidly scaling AI company focused on creating the foundational technology that allows intelligent agents to securely access enterprise systems and carry out real-world business workflows.
The company is building a robust infrastructure layer that combines secure connectivity, identity controls, access governance, and cloud-based services into a single platform. By enabling AI agents to work seamlessly with enterprise applications and internal data, the platform helps organizations deploy AI solutions with greater confidence, control, and reliability.
The Role
As a Backend Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing the backend architecture and infrastructure that power secure, enterprise-ready AI applications. You’ll contribute to systems spanning distributed computing, cloud services, identity and permissions, and integrations with business-critical software.
In this position, you’ll design and implement the services that govern how AI agents connect to enterprise environments, retrieve information, obtain permissions, and perform actions across organizational tools. You’ll have significant technical ownership, helping shape core platform capabilities while improving deployment automation, system resilience, and integration architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale backend applications and foundational services that support enterprise AI workflows and agent-based systems.
- Develop identity infrastructure covering authentication, authorization, role-based permissions, tenant separation, and account provisioning.
- Build and maintain secure connections between AI agents and workplace applications such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, email, and telephony services.
- Implement integration layers for enterprise platforms, including SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, SharePoint, Google Drive, and other business-critical systems.
- Create scalable APIs, shared libraries, and backend abstractions that simplify and standardize interactions between AI agents and external services.
- Develop automated workflows for customer setup, account provisioning, infrastructure configuration, software releases, and routine platform operations.
- Own backend services throughout their lifecycle, from initial architecture and implementation to testing, deployment, observability, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks while improving availability, fault tolerance, and scalability across distributed services.
- Partner with engineering, AI research, product, security, and infrastructure teams to establish technical standards and deliver cross-functional platform improvements.
- Build and refine infrastructure automation for cloud environments, configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, and operational processes.
- Implement security mechanisms to enforce access policies, isolate customer environments, safeguard confidential information, and maintain audit trails of agent activity.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and system designs to support new product capabilities and evolving enterprise integration needs.
- Lead engineering projects independently, translating technical requirements into practical solutions and delivering them through production rollout.
- Improve engineering practices around monitoring, logging, incident response, infrastructure reliability, and development efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in backend development, infrastructure engineering, platform systems, distributed applications, or a related software engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience developing and supporting production software, with an understanding of scalability, availability, performance, and security considerations.
- Solid knowledge of API design, distributed architectures, identity systems, authentication and authorization mechanisms, RBAC, and access-control principles.
- Practical experience working with cloud platforms, automated deployments, monitoring tools, observability systems, and production environments.
- Ability to take ownership of technical projects, from defining requirements and evaluating architectural options to implementation, release, and ongoing support.
- Adaptability and sound technical judgment in a high-growth environment where requirements, architecture, and priorities may change quickly.
Compensation & Benefits
