Backend Engineer

About the Role

Join a small engineering team at a healthcare AI workflow automation company, building backend systems that help reduce administrative work and improve access to care. You will develop the infrastructure behind customer onboarding and support secure, reliable processing of clinical information.

What You'll Do

• Architect and deploy backend systems that process high volumes of data through APIs.

• Develop and evolve agentic infrastructure for secure, reliable handling of clinical information.

• Shape product iterations by incorporating direct customer feedback.

• Own critical backend infrastructure and guide its technical evolution.

• Scale systems to support customer onboarding and company growth.

What We're Looking For

• 0 to 1 years of professional backend development experience, plus at least 1 year building and delivering production software; candidates with 5 or more years in software or systems engineering and shipped production software may also be considered.

• Proficiency in Python and experience with at least one other major programming language.

• Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform.

• Understanding of prompt engineering.

• An active GitHub profile with meaningful contributions.

• Currently employed in a role at an established company.

• Interest in building impactful products in healthcare.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $120,000 to $250,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

On-site five days per week in San Francisco, California, United States.
