Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and expanding the systems behind these capabilities. You’ll work across backend architecture, cloud infrastructure, access management, and third-party integrations to build a dependable, secure, and high-performance platform. This role offers the opportunity to influence technical direction while delivering critical capabilities from initial design through production deployment.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain distributed backend components that support reliable AI-driven operations across multiple enterprise environments.
• Build systems for authentication, authorization, role-based permissions, tenant separation, identity lifecycle operations, and user account provisioning.
• Develop and maintain integrations with business productivity and communication platforms, including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, email services, and telephony systems.
• Build APIs, reusable integration components, and supporting frameworks that allow AI agents to execute actions within third-party applications using properly authorized access.
• Take ownership of projects throughout the software development lifecycle, including architecture decisions, implementation, deployment, production monitoring, troubleshooting, and iterative improvements.

What You’ll Bring

• A bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
• At least two years of professional experience in backend engineering, cloud infrastructure, distributed computing, or a related field.
• Experience developing and operating production-grade software, with an understanding of system security, scalability, performance optimization, and reliability.
• The ability to manage engineering projects across the full delivery lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to release and ongoing production support.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, sound engineering judgment, and a methodical approach to diagnosing complex technical issues.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual base salary: $275,000–$320,000, based on experience and qualifications.
• Hybrid, based in San Francisco, California.
