Senior Structural BIM Modeler

The Opportunity

Our client is a highly respected structural engineering firm known for technically demanding, large-scale buildings. Their portfolio includes high-rise towers, stadiums, convention centers, aviation facilities and major healthcare projects, with work across the US and internationally.

They are hiring a Lead Structural BIM Modeler to join their healthcare team, which carries a strong and growing pipeline of work.

The firm sees its senior modelers as close partners to the engineers. You will know what needs to be modeled, how to model it, and the structural concepts behind it, and you will work with structural engineers every day.

This hire is about bringing senior technical judgment into the group and helping lead and develop the team over time, not simply producing models.

What You'll Do

Modeling and Project Delivery

• Build structural BIM models and construction document sets for large, complex buildings in steel and concrete.
• Model foundations, slabs, beams and columns with a clear grasp of the structural intent behind them.
• Own the most technically challenging parts of a project and see them through to issue.
• Work through coordination issues with engineers and other disciplines as they come up.
• Keep several active projects of different types moving at once.

Technology and BIM Implementation

• Drive BIM implementation on healthcare projects, including point cloud and scan-to-BIM workflows.
• Use Dynamo, Grasshopper and scripting to automate repetitive work and improve model quality.
• Identify where technology can improve project delivery, and help put it into practice.

Leadership and Team Development

• Lead modeling efforts and actively manage project workflows.
• Review, guide and support the work of other modelers.
• Coach and develop less experienced team members.

What We're Looking For

Experience

• 8+ years of structural BIM / Revit modeling experience.
• Strong experience modeling both steel and concrete on large-scale projects.
• Project experience on complex structures such as high-rise, healthcare, sports, aviation, convention centers or commercial office.
• Experience managing workflows and supporting other modelers.

Education

• A degree in engineering, architecture or a related technical field. Architectural engineering backgrounds are ideal.

Technical Skills

• Expert-level Revit and BIM capabilities.
• Working knowledge of structural engineering concepts.
• Dynamo and/or Grasshopper experience is a major differentiator.
• Scripting, computational design or building custom Revit tools is a strong asset.
• Point cloud and scan-to-BIM experience is an asset.

Work Arrangement

This is a fully on-site role in Seattle. In-person collaboration with engineers is central to how this team works, so remote and hybrid candidates are not a fit. Candidates open to relocating are encouraged to apply.

Compensation

• Competitive base salary, overtime pay, an annual bonus and a company profit sharing plan on top of base.
