You will negotiate transactions, optimise supply and wholesale positions, and contribute directly to margin growth, supply security and portfolio performance within established risk and governance frameworks.

Your responsibilities

  • Source, market and manage commercial positions in biofuels, including HVO, FAME/UCOME and bioethanol, alongside German greenhouse gas reduction quotas and emissions allowances.
  • Identify and execute opportunities across supply, wholesale, renewables and spot markets.
  • Analyse market movements, pricing, spreads and regulatory developments to inform commercial decisions.
  • Negotiate supply and sales agreements with suppliers, customers and other market participants.
  • Develop existing relationships and establish new commercial partnerships.
  • Manage positions within approved risk limits, governance requirements and authorisation frameworks.
  • Maintain accurate, transparent and audit-ready transaction documentation.
  • Work closely with Logistics, Middle Office, Compliance and Finance to ensure successful deal execution.
  • Contribute to improvements in commercial processes, models and new business opportunities.

Your background

  • Several years of experience trading, buying or selling biofuels, greenhouse gas reduction quotas or emissions allowances within a fuels, commodities or trading environment.
  • A strong understanding of spot and forward markets, pricing mechanisms, spreads and supply chains.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, such as THG/GHG, RED, BEHG and ETS II, or comparable compliance systems.
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers, customers and commercial counterparties.
  • Sound commercial judgement and the ability to turn market intelligence into profitable opportunities.
  • A structured approach to documentation, risk management and internal controls.
  • The ability to work independently while coordinating effectively across teams.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Experience with sustainability documentation and systems such as ISCC or Nabisy would be advantageous.

What the opportunity offers

  • A commercial role with direct influence on business performance and supply security.
  • Autonomy and scope to help shape the development of renewable fuels activities.
  • An attractive remuneration package reflecting the responsibilities of the position.
  • Hybrid working, with up to two remote days per week.
  • A modern office in central Hamburg and close collaboration with experienced colleagues.
  • Professional development, further training and individual career planning.
  • Benefits including a company pension scheme, wellbeing support, sports activities and family services.
