About the Role
An excellent opportunity is available for an exceptional Graduate / Candidate Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and highly regarded professional team based in the Durban/Umdloti area.
This is not a Senior Quantity Surveyor position. We are specifically looking for a high-potential individual who has recently completed their studies or is in the early stages of their Quantity Surveying career.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their technical and commercial expertise while gaining exposure to a broad range of Quantity Surveying responsibilities and working alongside experienced industry professionals.

Minimum Requirements
- BSc Honours in Quantity Surveying – essential
- Recent graduate or approximately 0–4 years' relevant Quantity Surveying experience
- Strong academic track record
- Full academic transcripts must be available
- Candidate registration with SACQSP, or eligibility/willingness to register, advantageous
- Strong numerical and analytical ability
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Confident interacting with colleagues, contractors, consultants and clients
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a professional team
- Valid driver's licence and own transport advantageous
- Must be willing to be based in Durban/Umdloti
Quantity Surveying Exposure
Depending on the candidate's level of experience, exposure to some of the following would be advantageous:
- Measurement and quantity take-offs
- Preparation of Bills of Quantities
- Cost planning and estimating
- Tender documentation and tender analysis
- Procurement and subcontractor enquiries
- Interim valuations and payment certificates
- Variations and change management
- Contract administration
- Cost reporting and forecasting
- Site measurements and inspections
- Final accounts
- Liaising with contractors, consultants and clients
- WinQS, DimensionX and/or similar QS software
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Graduate applicants are not expected to have extensive practical experience. Academic performance, aptitude and overall potential will be considered alongside practical exposure.

This client is particularly selective about the calibre of people joining the business. Having the required degree alone will therefore not necessarily be enough.
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who can demonstrate achievement, initiative or leadership during school, university or their early career.

- Student society leadership
- Sports captaincy or competitive university/provincial sport
- Academic awards, distinctions or other outstanding academic achievements

You do not need to have done all of the above. We are interested in understanding what distinguishes you as an individual and what you have achieved beyond simply completing your qualification.
