The successful candidate will provide and coordinate care and education of patients and families across the full continuum of cardiac surgery: from clinic or inpatient consultation, through surgery and post-op hospital stay, to outpatient follow-up. We are seeking an APP who would rotate in the ICU/Floor/and operating room. The opportunity to act as first assistant for Cardiac operations is available to experienced surgical PAs or APRNs with RNFA certification . OR first assist will include a full range of coronary, complex valve, aortic, and minimally invasive procedures, as well as endoscopic and open vein harvesting. In addition, there are ample opportunities to be involved in research. A faculty appointment through Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth will be requested. Position Highlights: Spend approximately 40-50% time in the OR as a first-assist. Vein harvesting and Cardiac surgery 1st assist experience REQUIRED Work rotating day shifts in the ICU/Floor covering the cardiac surgery inpatient service and evaluating new consults. Schedule is 7 days in a 2 week period Minimal need for clinic coverage Night and weekend coverage of post-op patient management at an average of 4 shifts per month OR call is 1:6 on nights, weekends, and holidays; call is taken from home Be part of a team that recently scored an A+ for cardiac care by Money Magazine and on the Becker’s Hospital Review’s Top 100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Heart Programs for 2025. Specialty certification as RNFA or certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) First-assist, cardiac, and vein harvesting experience required.
