The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides and autonomously manages health assessment, diagnosis, intervention andfollow-up care to the residents of their community in accordance with Legislative Acts, regulations, policies, standards,mission and the objectives of the Department of Health and the Government of Nunavut. Through the provision of health interventions (health promotion, occupational health and safety, public health, community development and curative treatment) this position has a direct impact on the health status of clients, families and the community; and contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the health centre operations. The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Graduate Level Advanced NursingPractice degree or or Nurse Practitioner- Primary Health Care Diploma. Must be eligible to register as an NP with theCollege and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CNNN). Two years NP experience preferredbut will consider new NPs graduates who have 5 years recent RN experience in acute care setting. What we have to offer: Contracts from 4 weeks up to 4 months Flights provided for travel in/out of community Subsidized Transient Housing Available Up to three paid travel days provided at the start/end of contract Competitive salaries and Northern Allowance Friend and Family Incentive Tiered Allowance = $10-15/hour (depending on community, peak periods) Continuous Service Allowance = $2.31 per hour Special Annual Allowance = $4.61- $10.00 per hour (depending on size of nursing station) This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required. The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of theofficial languages of Nunavut. The ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets. Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position. The Government of Nunavut is committed to creating a representative workforce; therefore, priority will be given to Nunavut Inuit who self-identify as being enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement in accordance with the Priority Hiring Policy. Government of Nunavut employees serving a probationary period must obtain and provide written authorization from the deputy head of their employing department. The authorization from the deputy head must accompany your application for your application to be considered. Possession of a criminal record may not disqualify candidates from being considered. An assessment of the criminal record will be measured against the scope and duties of the position.
