Company Overview: Pronoia Energy is a pioneering deep tech startup at the forefront of quantum energy storage innovation. As a lean, mission-driven team, we thrive on rapid prototyping, cross-disciplinary collaboration and solving complex engineering challenges to turn quantum physics into practical, scalable products. Our current focus is on developing our groundbreaking room-temperature macroscopic quantum energy storage technology that promises orders of magnitude greater energy density, faster charging, and higher power delivery as well as being cheaper and safer compared to existing battery technology. This represents a paradigm shift in energy storage with applications spanning consumer electronics, electric vehicles, renewable grids, and beyond. Role Summary: To meet our ambitious goals we are hiring a Cell Technician to build, assemble, and test the cells at the heart of our technology. This is the essential, hands-on craft of battery research, and it is a high-stakes, high-reward role on a team that is doubling its experimental throughput. In this role you will build experimental cells in controlled environments, prepare and handle electrode materials and electrolytes, run charge and discharge tests, and record data with meticulous care. You are the skilled hands that turn our materials and designs into real, measurable cells. You will work closely with our Principal Process Engineer and the broader cell and materials teams, following rigorous safety practices around energetic materials. This role is onsite in Torrance, California. Key Responsibilities: Build and assemble experimental cells in controlled environments such as a dry room or glovebox. Prepare and handle electrode materials and electrolytes safely and precisely. Run charge and discharge testing and capture clean, careful data. Maintain rigorous records and follow safety protocols around energetic materials. Support the cell and materials teams in iterating quickly on cell designs. Required Qualifications: Hands-on electrochemistry, battery, or materials lab experience, or closely adjacent precise lab craft. Comfort and fluency working in glovebox, dry-room, or other controlled environments. Meticulous data discipline and genuine care for repetitive, precise work. Reliability, safety-consciousness, and a genuine enjoyment of building and measuring physical things. Comfort with ambiguity and rapid iteration in a startup setting. Preferred Qualifications: Direct battery, electrochemistry, or materials-processing experience. A background from a chemistry, materials, or pharmaceutical lab with precise-measurement experience. A relevant degree or technical certificate, for these roles we hire for hands and attitude as much as for credentials. What We Offer: Chance to solve one of the world's biggest engineering challenges and pioneer quantum energy storage. Competitive salary, equity in a transformative startup, and performance-based incentives. Access to cutting-edge labs, tools, and resources in a flexible, collaborative work environment. Comprehensive benefits: health insurance, unlimited PTO, professional development stipend, and relocation assistance if needed. A culture of innovation where your work will accelerate our path to market impact. If you're excited to tackle this real-world quantum problem and build the energy systems of the future, apply with your resume and cover letter detailing relevant projects.
