Job Description Summary

As Central Plant Facilitator, you will supervise a team of continuous duty shift operators to monitor the 24/7/365 production of utility processes in the areas of; Industrial Wastewater Treatment, HVAC Steam and Chilled Water, and Compressed Air/Industrial Gases in support of ongoing critical research programs.

Roles and Responsibilities

A successful CPF candidate must provide stewardship over critical infrastructure and operations personnel to maintain a safe, efficient and reliable facility. The CPF must have a strong technical background in electro-mechanical industrial equipment and associated automation/controls systems. The CPF acts as liaison to Research Center Facilities Support Organizations such as: Sourcing, Environmental Health and Safety, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Project Managers, and site labor trade groups. In this role some of the timely duties include the following:

  • Evaluate equipment operational parameters/trends for service readiness and/or repair.

  • Prioritize and schedule project, maintenance, and unexpected outage tasks to suit site specific demands.

  • Drive to completion daily/seasonal service actions on power boilers, mechanical chillers, compressors, pumps and all other associated process control equipment.

  • Certify/submit compliance records of bulk chemical usage, combustion air emissions, and industrial wastewater discharge.

  • Evaluate process alarms and upsets, and layout response to protect equipment, personnel and associated facilities infrastructure.

  • Supervisory responsibilities of Union hourly trades employees

  • Oversee employees in the installation and maintenance plant facilities equipment.

  • Assist Facilities Organization with the request/negotiation of site service contracts.

  • Submit yearly appropriations funding requests for extended duration service contracts.

  • Draft scope-of-work documentation when outside contract labor is utilized.

  • Issue Standard Operating Procedures and mitigate task hazards to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Educate, train, evaluate and schedule Central Plant operators.

  • Maintain sufficient inventory of wear items and other critical spares.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Stationary, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, HVAC/Refrigeration Services, or other applicable degree program with 3 yrs experience of Waste Water treatment or Boiler Operations OR: Military technical service experience in electro-mechanical controls related to facilities operations with 5 years of Waste Water treatment or Boiler Operations experience OR: High school diploma / GED with minimum of 10 years of Waste Water treatment or Boiler Operations experience in related facilities applications.

  • Candidate should have a strong technical understanding and experience in utility scale plant operations.

  • Direct work experience in facilities infrastructure maintenance/operations support such as manufacturing plants, hospitals, educational campuses, and/or military installations is desired.

  • This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship.

The base pay range for this position is $98,000 - $163,000 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on November 30th, 2026.
