In our CRNA role, you will be a critical team member to administer general, regional and monitored anesthesia care for scheduled and emergency surgical, obstetrical, and trauma procedures and perform anesthesia-related procedures at the discretion of and under the supervision of an attending anesthesiologist. The CRNA will evaluate patients preoperatively and, in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist, formulate and carry out an anesthesia care plan including monitoring and recording patient reaction to anesthesia and modifying the anesthetic plan accordingly. Safely transport patients and provide report to and from an anesthetizing location, ensuring appropriate care during the postoperative period. Finally, be an effective team member and interact with staff and patients in a way that shows respect and consideration for the individual and those around you. Essential Job Functions • At all times works under the medical direction of an Anesthesiologist. • Provides quality patient care considering age specific, developmental and cultural needs through competent anesthesia practice. • Manages patients airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation and extubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, and respiratory therapy. • Selects, prepares, or uses equipment, monitors, supplies, or drugs for the administration of anesthetics. • Selects, orders, and administers anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids or blood products. • Performs pre-anesthetic screenings including physical evaluations and patient interviews, and documents results. Monitors patients responses including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation, or urine output using invasive and noninvasive techniques. • Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques. • Develops anesthesia care plans. • Obtains informed consent from patients for anesthesia procedures. • Assesses patients medical histories to predict anesthesia response. • Performs and evaluates the results of diagnostic tests such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKGs). • Performs or manages regional anesthetic techniques such as local, spinal, epidural, caudal, nerve blocks and intravenous blocks. • Evaluates patients post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting consultation if complications occur. Administers post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients cardiovascular systems. • Discharges patients from post-anesthesia care. • Reads literature, talks with colleagues, and participates in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in nursing. • Performs any other related duties as requested or required. • Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance.
