THE OPPORTUNITY

We are conducting a confidential global executive search for an exceptional Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO) to join one of the leading enterprises in its industry in Vietnam.

This is a strategic C-Level leadership position reporting directly to the CEO, with the opportunity to shape the organization's enterprise-wide AI vision, strategy, transformation, and long-term competitive advantage.

The successful candidate will lead the development and execution of an ambitious AI transformation agenda, translating advanced technologies into measurable business outcomes, operational excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Enterprise AI Strategy & Executive Leadership

• Develop and execute the enterprise-wide AI vision, strategy, and multi-year transformation roadmap.
• Work directly with the CEO and executive leadership team to establish strategic priorities and AI investment plans.
• Lead AI-driven business transformation across functions, operations, products, and customer experiences.
• Establish enterprise AI performance indicators, governance mechanisms, and executive reporting.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on emerging AI technologies and competitive opportunities.

2. AI Transformation & Business Value Creation

• Identify and prioritize high-value AI opportunities across the enterprise.
• Lead the implementation of AI solutions that improve productivity, operational efficiency, revenue growth, customer experience, and risk management.
• Scale AI initiatives from experimentation to sustainable enterprise-wide deployment.
• Establish clear business cases, investment discipline, and measurable ROI.
• Drive AI-enabled innovation and new business capabilities.

3. AI Technology, Data & Innovation

• Provide executive leadership for Generative AI, Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, Intelligent Automation, and Agentic AI.
• Collaborate with technology, data, and cybersecurity leaders to develop scalable enterprise AI capabilities.
• Evaluate AI platforms, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and strategic technology partnerships.
• Ensure technology decisions align with business priorities, scalability, security, and long-term value.
• Build a sustainable AI innovation and delivery ecosystem.

4. AI Governance, Risk & Responsible AI

• Establish enterprise AI governance, accountability, policies, and operating standards.
• Oversee AI-related risks, model governance, data privacy, explainability, and human oversight.
• Partner with risk, legal, compliance, and cybersecurity teams.
• Promote responsible, secure, and trustworthy AI deployment.

5. Organizational Transformation & AI Talent

• Build and lead high-performing AI teams and cross-functional transformation initiatives.
• Develop enterprise-wide AI competencies and leadership capabilities.
• Drive AI adoption, workforce transformation, and organizational change.
• Establish a culture of innovation, experimentation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

6. CEO & Executive Stakeholder Partnership

• Report directly to the CEO on AI strategy, investments, execution, and business impact.
• Collaborate with C-Level executives to align AI initiatives with enterprise priorities.
• Present strategic recommendations, progress, risks, and outcomes to executive stakeholders and, when required, the Board.
• Represent the organization in strategic AI partnerships and relevant industry forums.

CANDIDATE PROFILEEssential Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in AI, technology, data, digital transformation, or enterprise innovation, preferably 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven success in designing and executing enterprise-scale AI transformation programs.
• Demonstrated ability to generate measurable business outcomes from AI investments.
• Strong knowledge of AI technologies, enterprise data ecosystems, AI governance, and implementation.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and large-scale organizational change.
• Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen, executive communication, and stakeholder management.
• Professional fluency in English.
• Willingness to be based in Vietnam.

Preferred Experience

• Current or former CAIO, Chief Data & AI Officer, Chief Digital Officer, CTO, VP of AI, Global Head of AI, or equivalent executive role.
• Experience in leading multinational corporations, large enterprises, or complex and highly regulated organizations.
• Proven track record of scaling AI from pilot programs into enterprise production environments.
• Experience working with CEOs, Boards, and senior executive leadership teams.
• International exposure and cross-cultural leadership experience.
• Advanced academic qualifications in AI, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business, or related disciplines.
