🚨 Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – Renewables | Global EPC

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (OPEN TO EXPATS - Family Status Visa provided)

I’m currently supporting a leading global EPC organisation in the renewable energy sector with the search for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technology strategy and technical excellence of its Renewables Division.

This is a highly senior technical leadership position spanning Solar PV, BESS, Onshore Wind, Offshore Wind and Hybrid Renewable Plants, with a particular focus on grid integration, power systems, control technologies and utility-scale renewable generation.

The Opportunity:

The CTO will provide strategic technical leadership across the full EPC lifecycle - from bidding and technology selection through engineering, commissioning and operational support.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading specialist teams across Power Systems & Grid Integration, Control & Operations, Energy Yield & Performance, Technical Analysis & Diagnostics, Equipment Engineering and Telecommunications

• Providing technical leadership on the integration of large-scale inverter-based renewable energy plants into utility grids

• Reviewing and mitigating technical risks during bidding and project execution

• Providing expertise across grid codes, power system studies, DMAT, SSCI, SSTI, power electronics controls and grid-event analysis

• Overseeing RTDS/HIL testing, SAT, commissioning and technical troubleshooting

• Supporting the technical evaluation and selection of WTGs, PV modules, BESS, control systems and other critical technologies

• Working closely with utilities, developers, OEMs, consultants and internal business leaders

• Representing the organisation at international conferences, technical forums and industry events

What we're looking for:

✅ 20+ years of experience within renewable energy, EPC, power systems, grid integration or utility operations

✅ 7–10+ years in senior technical leadership

✅ Deep experience with utility-scale IBR plants >1 GW, including Solar, Wind, BESS and Hybrid Plants

✅ Strong understanding of utility grid operations and international grid codes

✅ Experience with power system studies, grid integration, control systems and operational challenges in weak-grid environments

✅ Direct or supervisory experience with RTDS testing, commissioning, SAT and technical troubleshooting

✅ Strong knowledge of IEEE, IEC and CIGRE standards/guidelines

✅ Understanding of telecommunications architecture and protocols including Modbus, IEC 104 and IEC 61850

🎓 B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics Engineering is essential, with an M.Tech. in Power Systems preferred. A PhD would be an advantage.
