Clinical Associate or Clinical Professor, Pulmonary - Pulmonologist, on the Full-Time Clinical Faculty pathway

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time clinical faculty member specializing in the clinical care of patients with lung cancer. This position will be at the Clinical Associate or Clinical Professor level, commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PCCSM), Department of Medicine at UW.

Fred Hutch and UW faculty engage in service, research, and teaching. This position will focus primarily on ambulatory clinical care of patients with prospective lung cancer at a world-renowned comprehensive cancer center. We seek a highly motivated individual committed to patient care and advancing the mission of the center through additional administrative, research, and teaching opportunities. The Fred Hutch has comprehensive pulmonary diagnostic facilities, including a state-of-the art procedure suite for bronchoscopy with navigation and EBUS capabilities as well as a full-service Pulmonary Function Laboratory. Additionally, UW-Montlake has a full-time bronchoscopy suite and advanced robotic bronchoscopy and EBUS capabilities.

Specifically, this individual will focus on directing and expanding our lung nodule program and building our advanced bronchoscopy program. The position will encompass lung cancer screening, lung nodule management, and the performance of procedures to diagnose lung cancer.

The primary, annual appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch. The position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and the Division Head of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Medicine.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this position include serving as the director of the Lung Cancer Early Detection and Prevention Clinic (LCEDPC) and performing advanced bronchoscopic procedures to facilitate lung cancer diagnosis. The LCEDPC serves as the multi-disciplinary lung nodule management and advanced bronchoscopy clinic for the UW and Fred Hutch. Clinical responsibilities related to these two key responsibilities will be to expand LCEDPC volume and capabilities using novel software programs to identify and track pulmonary nodules, and to perform advanced bronchoscopic procedures including navigational and robotic bronchoscopy in addition to radial EBUS and routine diagnostic bronchoscopies. This position will also contribute to the evaluation of patients in the Fred Hutch Pulmonary Consult Clinic. The Pulmonary Consult Clinic manages clinical concerns of pulmonary complications of malignant disease and therapy. The Fred Hutch Pulmonary group is committed to providing outstanding patient care, advanced by cutting edge research trials in the field of lung cancer diagnostics and lung complications after stem cell transplantation and cancer therapies.

This position will also involve participation in the administrative, research, and instructional activities of the Clinical Research Division and the UW PCCSM Division. A candidate with an interest in QI and developing clinical services to meet the growing need for pulmonary consultative services will be an asset to the division. There is opportunity for the candidate to conduct clinical research with existing comprehensive clinical databases and ongoing prospective studies.

Teaching responsibilities involve oversight of PCCSM Fellows during their outpatient clinical rotation or continuity clinics, and lectures at various FHCC conferences targeted for Hematology/Oncology faculty and mid-level providers. The position will involve significant interaction with colleagues in Infectious Diseases, Heme/Onc and Marrow Transplantation, as well as PCCSM colleagues across the UW enterprise. This position will be based at the South Lake Union main campus but may require the incumbent to participate in inpatient consultative services at UWMC-Montlake.

Applicants must have:

• MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent)
• Completion of a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) eligible or certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (or foreign equivalent)Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record in clinical care with a primary focus on the evaluation and management of patients with pulmonary nodules and expertise in the performance of advanced bronchoscopic procedure to facilitate lung cancer diagnosis.

The annual base salary range for this position is $352,375.00 to $377,476.00 for faculty hired at the Clinical Associate Professor rank, and $367,046.00 to $412,926.00 for faculty hired at the Clinical Professor rank. Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance and/or sign-on bonus.
