This newly created Senior Clinical Psychologist position presents an exciting opportunity to influence the future of mental health care across the New England North West. Combining advanced clinical practice with meaningful clinical leadership, you’ll play an integral role in strengthening service capability, fostering innovation and supporting continuous improvement across the region.

Responsibilities

Working in close partnership with Community Managers, Clinical Coordinators and the broader NENW leadership team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

⭐ Provide advanced specialist clinical care, consultation and expertise across the region

⭐ Serve as a trusted point of escalation for complex clinical and operational matters

⭐ Mentor and support clinicians, building capability, confidence, wellbeing and professional growth

⭐ Promote evidence-based, person-centred approaches that enhance outcomes for consumers and communities

⭐ Provide clinical leadership and contribute to the ongoing development of the Psychology discipline across NENW Mental Health Service

⭐ Influence service development and improvement initiatives that strengthen access, quality and continuity of care

Join the New England North West Mental Health Service as a Senior Clinical Psychologist and play a key role in strengthening specialist mental health care across the region. This newly established opportunity offers the flexibility to negotiate your base location across established NENW MHS sites, providing an opportunity to make a meaningful professional impact while enjoying the lifestyle of regional NSW.

Working alongside passionate multidisciplinary teams, you’ll support diverse communities through a blend of face-to-face and telehealth services, bringing your expertise to a service committed to accessible, high-quality mental health care.

You’ll be well supported through dedicated Line Management and Head of Discipline support, regular structured clinical supervision, professional development and ongoing education. NENW MHS actively supports your commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD), with access to regular internal in-service programs and opportunities to further develop your specialist practice.

Essential Requirements

  • Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.

How To Apply

  • Generally registered as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with area of practice endorsement in clinical psychology, with a higher level knowledge and experience in a mental health
  • Exercise higher level independent clinical judgement in the provision of client-centered assessment, diagnosis, intervention and consultancy to clients, families/carers and other health care professionals to ensure delivery of innovative clinical practice models and therapeutic techniques.
  • Evaluate the efficacy of therapy in individual and group situations using appropriate standardised outcome measures and adapt psychological interventions to maximise client outcomes at an individual and service level. This includes providing expert clinical perspective to the MDT to enable the planning and implementation of client-centered clinical activities within the service.
