Play a pivotal role in the care of critically ill patients by delivering advanced pharmacotherapy across multiple ICU settings within a leading academic medical center. This position offers the opportunity to practice at the top of your license while contributing directly to life-saving interventions, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the future development of critical care pharmacy. This is a high-impact evening position designed for pharmacists who thrive in complex, fast-paced ICU environments and are seeking meaningful clinical autonomy, professional growth, and consistent work-life balance through a four-day work week. The Role As a Clinical Pharmacist in Critical Care, you will be embedded within a dedicated ICU pharmacy team, supporting a wide range of critical care units while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and fellow pharmacists. Your schedule begins around 12 :00pm , allowing time for project work and team engagement before transitioning into full ICU coverage later in the afternoon and evening. On a typical day, you will: Verify medication orders across multiple ICU units with a focus on safety and clinical accuracy Respond to ICU emergencies, rapid responses, and code situations in real time Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary care teams on complex, high-acuity cases Participate in structured handoffs to ensure continuity of care across shifts Contribute to clinical initiatives, committees, and departmental projects Engage in teaching and precepting of pharmacy students and trainees This role supports a broad range of ICUs, including: Cardiothoracic ICU Neuro ICU Cardiac ICU (CCU) Medical ICU Surgical Trauma ICU The pace is dynamic and clinically rich, requiring strong critical thinking, clinical confidence, and the ability to make timely , high- stakes decisions that directly impact patient outcomes. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy required . Experience: No experience required . PGY-1 residency or equivalent clinical experience preferred. Licensure: Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License or within 60 days of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required . PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Job requires sitting for prolonged periods; Repetitive motion: typing. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The pay range for this role is $64.37 - $89.07 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
