Job Summary

This post is fixed term/secondment for 3 years due to funding

An opportunity has arisen for an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to provide support to the Treatment Delivery aspects of the Radiotherapy Physics Service at Singleton Hospital.

Appointment at a lower band or Under Annex 21 will be considered for candidates currently enrolled on STP, Route 2 or STP Equivalence and can demonstrate they will be eligible for HCPC registration within 12 months.

Main duties of the job

The main role of this post is to provide advanced support to all aspects of the work of the Radiotherapy Physics Service and undertake specialist clinical and scientific activities in support of the delivery of the departments machine quality assurance programme.

The post will provide the holder with continuing opportunities to progress within the field of Radiotherapy Physics leading to recognition as a Medical Physics Expert. The post holder will at times be assigned to specific projects managed by a Principal/Consultant Clinical Scientist and will contribute to relevant research and development projects within Radiotherapy Treatment Delivery, preparing and presenting scientific reports. Research and development is a significant commitment of this post, accounting typically for at least 10% of the time. The post holder will be expected to routinely work a typical pattern of two weekends per month.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
