We are more than 20,000 employees, working together as one health system in a relentless pursuit of healing for our patients, community and each other. And everyone, in their own unique way, plays an important part, every day.

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School and UMass Memorial Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Cardiac Electrophysiologist to serve as Clinical Section Chief of Electrophysiology (EP). This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-career physician with a strong clinical and academic track record, and/or a clinician-scientist background, to provide clinical leadership and contribute to the continued growth and development of our EP program.

This full-time faculty position offers the opportunity to lead within a collaborative academic medical center environment that integrates high-quality patient care, education, research, and program development.

Key Highlights

  • Provide clinical leadership and contribute to the strategic growth and development of the Electrophysiology Section.
  • Join an established and growing team of 4 electrophysiology faculty members, 2 EP fellows, and 3 Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Maintain a balanced clinical commitment, with approximately 80% of clinical time dedicated to EP-focused responsibilities and 20% to outpatient care.
  • Perform EP lab procedures, device implantation and interrogation, and inpatient electrophysiology consultations.
  • Participate in community-based ambulatory EP practice.
  • Utilize protected time for program development, quality improvement initiatives, and teaching, mentoring, and research activities.
  • Support the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Collaborate with divisional and departmental leadership to advance clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and patient-centered care.

Advanced Electrophysiology Programs

Our established EP program offers a broad range of advanced procedures and technologies, including:

  • High-volume atrial fibrillation ablation program, performing approximately 850 cases annually.
  • Established left atrial appendage closure program, including approximately 220 Watchman procedures annually.
  • Dedicated ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation program.
  • Left Bundle Branch Pacing (LBBP) program.

Ambulatory Cardiology Practice

Our Worcester-based ambulatory cardiology practice provides a strong clinical foundation and collaborative environment:

  • Approximately 425–475 new patients evaluated monthly.
  • Total patient volume of approximately 2,700–3,300 visits per month.
  • Modern technology platforms, including Epic EMR, to support seamless communication and workflow efficiency.
  • Strong administrative, clinical, and operational support.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
  • Eligible for Massachusetts medical licensure.
  • Mid-career physician with a demonstrated clinical and academic track record and/or clinician-scientist background.
  • Experience and interest in clinical leadership, program development, and quality improvement.
  • Commitment to teaching, mentorship, and academic medicine.

What We Offer

  • Academic appointment at UMass Chan Medical School, with faculty rank commensurate with experience.
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Employer-funded retirement contributions of 8% of base salary, with additional retirement plan options.
  • Tuition reimbursement, student loan forgiveness support, and PSLF-eligible employment.
  • Relocation concierge services, including access to special mortgage promotions.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage of $5 million per claim and $10 million aggregate.
  • Organization-wide commitment to clinician wellness through our formal Clinician Wellness Program.
