Job Title: CNC Mill Operator Job Description The CNC Mill Operator works with computer-controlled 3-axis CNC mills with 4th axis capabilities and grinder attachments to ensure machines are correctly set up, operating efficiently, and producing high-quality aerospace components. This role performs recurring assignments independently and proficiently, following established procedures and practices with minimal supervision while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. Responsibilities Set up, adjust, and operate 3- and 4-axis CNC mills and grinders used in aerospace manufacturing to produce precision components. Configure and use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and ensure products meet specifications. Make manual adjustments at the machine interface and controls to optimize performance, maintain proper operation, and validate product compliance. Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements and set up parameters. Perform machine setup activities, including tooling selection, fixture installation, and part alignment for milling and grinding operations. Use inspection tools to conduct in-process and final inspections, documenting results in accordance with quality standards. Apply knowledge of GD&T to understand geometric tolerances and ensure parts conform to engineering requirements when applicable. Monitor production processes and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality, efficiency, and throughput Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. Follow established procedures and work instructions while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve machining issues and improve processes. Comply with all safety, quality, and manufacturing policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of experience operating 3-axis CNC mills. Hands-on experience with micrometers and other inspection tools to perform accurate dimensional checks. Ability to set up CNC mills and related equipment, including tooling, fixtures, and workholding. Proficiency in blueprint reading to interpret engineering drawings and machining requirements. Working knowledge of machining practices, including milling and grinding operations. Ability to make manual adjustments at machine controls to optimize performance and maintain product quality. Familiarity with basic quality control practices in a manufacturing environment. Capability to work independently under minimal supervision while following established procedures. Understanding of general safety practices in a manufacturing setting, including proper use of PPE. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance. Understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for effective manufacturing and distribution of goods. Grinding experience is preferred and considered a strong asset. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred. Experience with lathe operations is beneficial. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a typical manufacturing environment focused on aerospace production. Working conditions may include exposure to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes. Employees use appropriate safety equipment such as safety glasses, masks, hearing protection, heel and wrist straps, gowns, and other required personal protective equipment. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety protocols, cleanliness, and organization, with an expectation of flexibility and willingness to work overtime when necessary to meet production demands. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Auburn, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $83200.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
