For this opportunity, they are supporting a major data center project in the Youngstown, Ohio area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commissioning professional to take a leadership role on a technically sophisticated, mission-critical project and work alongside experienced project teams, contractors, vendors, and commissioning stakeholders.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead and oversee the commissioning process for a major data center project.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating commissioning activities across electrical, mechanical, controls, and critical facility systems, ensuring that systems are properly tested, integrated, documented, and ready for operational turnover.

This position will have significant involvement in Level 1–5 commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), critical power systems, cooling systems, failure-mode testing, issue resolution, and final turnover.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall commissioning plan in alignment with project and owner requirements.
• Lead commissioning activities from equipment testing through final facility turnover.
• Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, commissioning agents, and owner representatives.
• Oversee Level 1–5 commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Witness and coordinate FAT, SAT, equipment startup, energization, and functional performance testing.
• Oversee testing of critical electrical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, ATS/STS, transformers, and electrical distribution.
• Coordinate mechanical commissioning involving chilled water systems, cooling towers, HVAC, CRAH/CRAC units, and related controls.
• Support full-facility failure-mode, blackout, and redundancy testing.
• Coordinate integration between BMS, EPMS, MEP, fire protection, and other critical building systems.
• Manage commissioning issues, deficiencies, punch lists, and corrective actions.
• Verify that systems meet project specifications, performance requirements, and commissioning criteria.
• Participate in field walks, QA/QC reviews, testing activities, and readiness assessments.
• Review commissioning documentation, test procedures, as-builts, O&M manuals, and turnover packages.
• Support operational readiness and successful final handover of the facility.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on-site in Youngstown, Ohio.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of commissioning experience within construction or mission-critical environments.
• Data center or mission-critical commissioning experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution and critical power systems.
• Experience with mechanical systems such as chilled water, cooling towers, HVAC, CRAH/CRAC, and associated controls.
• Hands-on experience with FAT, SAT, FPT, IST, and Level 4/5 commissioning.
• Experience with failure-mode, blackout, load-bank, or integrated systems testing is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of commissioning, construction, QA/QC, and project management processes.
• Proven ability to coordinate contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication, leadership, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
