SantanderIT STARTS HERE
Santander (www.santander.com) is evolving from a global, high-impact brand into a technology-driven organisation, and our people are at the heart of this journey. Together, we are driving a customer-centric transformation that values bold thinking, innovation, and the courage to challenge what’s possible.
This is more than a strategic shift. It’s a chance for driven professionals to grow, learn, and make a real difference.
Our mission is to contribute to help more people and businesses prosper. We embrace a strong risk culture and all our professionals at all levels are expected to take a proactive and responsible approach toward risk management.
The Procurement & Cost Management function plays a critical role in ensuring that our spend, investments and cost base align with our strategic goals, deliver sustainable value, and support operational excellence. It focuses on partnering the business, optimising cost, and shaping commercial decisions to drive long-term profitability and resilience.
By working closely with internal stakeholders, Procurement & Cost Management bridges strategic objectives and financial outcomes, ensuring that decisions on cost, investment and change directly contribute to business performance, innovation and sustainability.
THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE
Santander UK is looking for a Cost Analytics Manager, based at Milton Keynes or Glasgow.
Your role will be to strengthen our enterprise-wide cost intelligence capability within Procurement & Cost Management.
In this role, you will help leaders understand, challenge and optimise the underlying cost base. You will combine financial, operational, workforce, supplier and activity data to explain where money is spent, what drives cost and where focused review can create sustainable value.
You will turn complex analysis into clear, decision-focused insight for senior stakeholders. Through cost-driver modelling, productivity and unit-cost analysis, benchmarking and strategic scenarios, you will identify structural opportunities and risks, challenge assumptions and support choices on operating model, investment, transformation and resource allocation.
We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:
Owning and developing an enterprise view of the underlying cost base, distinguishing structural change from timing effects, accounting movements and one-off items.
Building cost-driver, income, productivity and unit-cost analysis that connects expenditure to volumes, capacity, service levels, operating activity and business outcomes.
Leading Group, internal and relevant external benchmarking, applying robust normalisation and comparability tests, and translating performance gaps into prioritised hypotheses and targeted recommendations.
Developing transparent strategic scenarios and decision support, while improving cost taxonomies, data quality, analytical methods, model governance, reporting and automation across the cost intelligence capability.

Excellent knowledge of cost-driver analysis, productivity measures, unit economics, scenario modelling, forecasting, variance analysis and benchmarking, including the ability to explain assumptions and limitations (Required)
Experience influencing senior stakeholders, structuring ambiguous questions, forming testable hypotheses and delivering high-quality analysis through cross-functional collaboration in a complex organisation (Required)
Languages:

Hard Skills:
Advanced analytical and modelling capability, with good attention to data quality, definitions, controls, documentation and reproducibility. Experience with data visualisation, business-intelligence tools or automation of recurring analysis is desirable (Required)
Ability to connect finance, workforce, supplier, technology and operational data, critically interpret internal and external benchmarks, and communicate complex findings as concise options, trade-offs and recommendations (Required)
Soft Skills:
A trusted, curious and constructive adviser who builds solid relationships, speaks up when evidence requires challenge and aligns colleagues around clear priorities and next steps (Preferred)
A collaborative and improvement-focused approach, with the ability to coach others, raise analytical standards and manage multiple priorities while maintaining pace, rigour and decision impact (Preferred)
